About This Position
Asst. Supervisor
Assists Office Manager in general administrative responsibilities of the office and at the direction of the Office Manager directs work of the clerical staff assigning specific tasks and responsibilities as needed. Assists in implementing new programs and procedures to improve services, operations and efficiency and to respond in a positive manner to changes within the institution and the external environment. Provides for supervision of office staff with oversight provided by the Office manager as appropriate. Assists in identifying efficient resolutions of problems. Responsible for orientation/ training of any clerical office staff hired. Accurately assigns diagnostic and procedure codes for services rendered by the practice providers to patients in both an outpatient and inpatient setting. Reviews and updates patient account files and ensures their accuracy and completeness. Determines appropriate billing distributions. Coordinates methods of payments with Central Billing and patient and answers billing related inquiries. Updates diagnostic and procedural coding files in the computer as they become available by publication. Requirements: A high school education. Medical Terminology with a minimum of 2 years medical office practice experience. Special knowledge of specific insurance coverage; including, but not limited to, Blue Cross, Medicare, Medicaid. Must have strong computer skills. Experience in Versys desirable.
