The SS Badger is a coal-fired passenger and vehicle ferry that has been in service on Lake Michigan since 1953. The ship shuttles between Ludington, Michigan, and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, 62 miles, connecting U.S. Highway 10 between those two cities.

We have an exciting opportunity for Auto Attendants for Lake Michigan Carferry. Starting pay for this role is $14.00/hour. This position also receives holiday pay, 401K, and the opportunity to earn an end-of-season bonus of $0.50 for every hour worked. Currently hiring for the 2025 season. Job Summary:

This shore position is responsible for the combined duties of chairlift operator and car deck security officer responsibilities.

The chairlift operator position is responsible for operating the Badger's handicapped passenger lift. This person's main duty is to assist handicapped and elderly passengers on and off the lift and operate the controls that bring it up and down during boarding and disembarking. Chairlift operators must be friendly and polite, able to learn the details of operating a lift and walk up and down stairs many times per day.

The car deck security officer position is responsible for monitoring and controlling access to the ship from the car deck by all employees, passengers, and guests. Responsibilities include checking employee ID's as they come aboard, ensuring that only ticketed passengers are boarding the ship, and ensuring that no unauthorized vehicles or luggage are brought aboard. Security background is a plus but not necessary. The ability to be alert to all surroundings while maintaining a welcoming demeanor while boarding passengers is necessary.
