Account Representative at Holzer Health System – Oak Hill, Ohio

Position Summary

The Account Representative is directly responsible and accountable to the Patient Accounts Manager. Account Representatives at Holzer branch locations is also accountable to the site Manager. The purpose of the Account Representative is to handle account related matters, explain financial policies, and credit policies. Account Representatives also work in conjunction with the Financial Advocates to ensure reimbursement for services rendered to uninsured and/or underinsured patients. Patients will be evaluated for financial assistance qualifications or payment options. The Account Representative will deal with insurance companies regarding patient claims and payments, collect POS and outstanding balances including setting up payment arrangements. Exhibit proven ability to make logical, intelligent decisions independently with minimum supervision.

Education, Work Experience and Licensure

1. Associate Degree required or minimum of 3 years' experience.

2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in the medical field preferred.

3. Previous experience in collections and customer service highly desirable.

4. Basic knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT codes.

5. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) helpful.

6. Proficient in understanding and using patient accounting systems.

7. Basic knowledge and skill related to Microsoft Word and Excel data entry.

8. Understanding of insurance payer reimbursement helpful.

9. Highly developed attention to detail and organization skills critical; ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

10. Above average interpersonal communication skills required.

11. Ability to write professional correspondence vial letter or email.

12. Ability to work with confidential information.

13. Working knowledge of business equipment (facsimile, copier, printer, etc.).
