Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist at Crouse Hospital – Syracuse, New York

Crouse Hospital is looking for a full time Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist to join our team!

The Addiction Treatment Activities Therapist provides service to adults; assists with development and implementation of educational curriculum; integrates skills for living and expressive therapy into plan for patients care; escorts patients on community outings; ensures patient safety; assists with control of video equipment and films.

Activities Therapist responsibilities include:

• Assists with the development and implementation of educational curriculum for the adult population in concert with overall treatment plan, integrating skills for living and expressive therapy and presents educational segments as appropriate
• Utilizes established theoretical concepts in the design and presentation of educational sessions, presents educational segments as appropriate. Ensures that information presented is patient specific
• Escorts patients on community outings, drives hospital vehicles, ensures patient’s safety, complies with approved list of community outings, reports results or problems to supervisor, reviews planned outings for continued relevance to patient’s plan for recovery

• Coordinates vocational assessments, assists counselors and vocational/education component of treatment planning and provides sessions for patients in accordance with treatment plans.

• Attends no less than 12 hours of hospital sponsored chemical dependency inservice training per year
• Assists with control of video equipment and departmental films

Education and Experience

Required

• BA or BS in Recreation Therapy or related field
• Valid New York State Driver’s License

Preferred

• 2 years in related field desirable

Hourly Rate Range

$20.92 - $32.46/hour
