Job Description

CAH – Cashier–Part Time - Days Shifts – 7a-4p- Req 7504
Pay Range $19.93-$23.43*
Assists patients in the settlement of their accounts, explains charges and answers related inquiries, receives and processes accounts receivable checks and other related mail, receives and processes petty cash disbursements for employees and prepares daily cash reports and balances cash on hand.
Qualifications:
Courses emphasized in accounting and clerical training or hospital cashier experience preferred and will be prioritized.
Must possess the ability to interact and communicate effectively with various patient age groups, primarily in the adult level.
Job Duties:

Assists patients in the settlement of their accounts upon discharge. Reviews patient charges and verifies their accuracy. Records cash amounts received and portions charges to insurance or other third parties and prepares receipts and related documents.

Explains charges and answers other related inquiries from patients and their families regarding discharge procedures. Refers patients / families to other hospital departments for assistance or information as required.

Receives and processes accounts receivable checks and other mail received, accounts to ensure accurate application of payments received. Prepares and processes receipts.

Receives and processes petty cash disbursements for hospital employees according to established procedures. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of petty cash requisitions, including authorization signatures.

Prepares daily cash reports and balances all cash on hand. Investigates and resolves any out-of-balance problems.

Computes contractual adjustments according to policy.
