PureGreen is looking for an experienced and driven Irrigation Manager to lead our Irrigation Division. This role is responsible for the people, performance, customer relationships, and overall execution of irrigation operations while ensuring services are completed safely, efficiently, and to PureGreen quality standards. ROLE SUMMARYAs an Irrigation Manager in our commercial landscape company, you will play a pivotal role in leading our Irrigation division. Irrigation Managers will meet with clients, when necessary, develop proposals, cost estimates, schedule and assign projects, and ensure that the technicians follow all required procedures and safety regulations. The Irrigation Manager will also develop budgets and financial forecasts, as well as implement plans to increase sales, profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership & Team Development- Hire, Manage, and Maintain qualified technicians along with continuing their education and training to ensure all technicians are properly trained before working by themselves.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams such as operations and branch management to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with a diverse client base, including developers, HOA boards, management companies, and facility/maintenance directors.
- Communicate with clients and job site foremen throughout each project and resolve customer service issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns, answering questions, and offering expert advice on irrigation system maintenance and operation.
- Conduct irrigation system checks by running all zones in the controller and ensuring proper coverage.
- Make necessary head and nozzle adjustments to achieve optimal water distribution.
- Identify and locate leaks in lateral and mainline pipes, and perform approved repairs as needed.
- Troubleshoot valve issues, including diagnosing and resolving problems related to solenoids, valves, and electrical connections.
- Handle conventional irrigation systems and 2-wire irrigation systems, troubleshooting and resolving issues specific to each system type.
- Troubleshoot controller issues, including programming errors and sensor malfunctions.
- Perform PVC pipe repairs, including mainline and lateral line repairs, ensuring proper sealing and functionality.
- Conduct valve repairs and replacements to ensure efficient water flow and distribution.
- Thoroughly document all work completed, including detailed descriptions of tasks performed and parts used.
- Meet prospective clients and generate take-offs, bids, and estimates.
- Schedule projects, coordinate subcontractors, order materials, assign equipment, and schedule deliveries to the job site.
- Conduct weekly job site inspections and monitor technicians' production rates, quality control, and safety performance.
- Proven experience in irrigation management, preferably within the commercial landscape
- Strong knowledge of plant and turf types, and an understanding of the commercial landscape market.
- Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and adapt to changing situations.
- Assoc Degree in Horticulture or turfgrass Management or related field is preferred.
- Industry-specific certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
- Proven experience in irrigation management, preferably within the commercial landscape industry
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial irrigation systems, including conventional and 2-wire systems
- Knowledge of irrigation controllers, valves, electrical troubleshooting, piping, heads, nozzles, and system design
- Strong understanding of plant and turf requirements and commercial landscape practices
- Previous experience leading and developing irrigation technicians or field teams
- Experience with estimating, take-offs, proposals, scheduling, and project coordination
- Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing field and customer needs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant CRM or management software
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Industry-specific irrigation certifications are preferred but not required
- Lead with professionalism, integrity, and accountability
- Maintain high standards for safety, quality, productivity, and customer service
- Develop and support team members while holding employees accountable for performance
- Communicate clearly and consistently with employees, customers, peers, and leadership
- Take ownership of divisional performance and proactively identify solutions
