Summerhill Market is always looking to connect with experienced, hands-on retail leaders for Store Manager opportunities across our locations.

Our Store Managers are highly visible leaders who take ownership of the entire store experience — our people, customers, merchandising, standards and overall operational performance.

We’re looking for leaders who love being on the floor, know how to build strong teams and understand what it takes to operate an exceptional food retail environment.

As a Store Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operation of the store while developing a strong team and ensuring an exceptional experience for our customers.

• Lead, coach and develop Department Managers and store employees.
• Build a positive, accountable and customer-focused store culture.
• Maintain exceptional standards for customer service, merchandising, cleanliness and overall store presentation.
• Oversee store operations including staffing, scheduling, labour, inventory, shrink and operational execution.
• Monitor sales and store performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with Department Managers to maintain strong in-stock positions, product quality and merchandising standards.
• Recruit, onboard, train and develop employees while building a strong leadership pipeline.
• Support performance management and employee relations in partnership with HR.
• Ensure company policies, procedures, food safety and health & safety standards are consistently followed.
• Lead store execution for promotions, seasonal programs, holidays and special events.
• Collaborate with Operations, Merchandising, Purchasing, Marketing, HR and other support teams.
• Respond to customer concerns and ensure issues are handled professionally and promptly.
• Maintain strong communication across departments and ensure priorities are understood and executed.
• Be present and hands-on throughout the store, stepping in wherever support is needed.

• Previous retail management experience, ideally within grocery, specialty food or a similar high-volume environment.
• Experience leading managers and large teams.
• Strong understanding of store operations, customer service, merchandising and inventory management.
• Commercial understanding of sales, labour, margins, shrink and profitability.
• Strong leadership, coaching and people-development skills.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable making decisions and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work alongside the team.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
