The Per Diem Dentist provides high-quality, patient-centered dental care on an as-needed basis while maintaining standards of clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and productivity.

SUMMARY

This is a temporary position- Full-Time and Part time available. Staff dentist is responsible for the provision of direct dental services in accordance with the protocols, policies and procedures of UMMA Health. The Staff dentist needs to ensure that patients receive quality, timely, professional services in alignment with UMMA’s mission and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The Staff Dentist will provide direct primary care services to dental patients within the scope of general dentistry designated by UMMA. Scope includes but is not limited to:

• Provide high-quality and timely dental services to patients at UMMA Health.

• Provide dental care consistent with evidence-based clinical standards and within the provider’s education, training, licensure, and privileges.

• Collaborate with medical and behavioral health teams to provide patient-centered, interprofessional care.

• Follow clinical protocols, policies, and procedures established by UMMA Health.

• Participate in quality improvement activities, including chart reviews, peer reviews, and other approved quality initiatives.

• Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation, treatment plans, referrals, and other required patient records in accordance with UMMA Health policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Exercise sound clinical judgment in accordance with organizational policies and accepted standards of dental practice.

• Educate patients regarding oral health conditions, preventive care, and the promotion of oral health.

• Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to infection prevention and exposure control standards.

• Collaborate effectively with support staff, clearly communicating expectations and promoting accountability and teamwork.

• Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and professionalism toward patients and members of the healthcare team.

• Manage challenging patient interactions professionally using effective interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

• Provide clinical coverage on an as-needed basis in accordance with UMMA Health scheduling and operational needs.

• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as UMMA Health policies related to dental practice, workplace safety, public health, privacy, and confidentiality.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Dental Officer.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

• DMD or DDS degree from an accredited dental school
• Ideal candidate would have about 2 years of experience
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a dentist in an outpatient setting. Experience in a community health center setting is preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Dental Records and digital radiograph
• Saturday Work Schedule as needed
• Spanish speaker preferred

Certificates, Licensure, and Regulatory Requirements

• Current California dental license with no restrictions
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate (DEA) License
• A valid California driver’s license and a good driving record
• Current BLS/ALCS
• H1B sponsorship
• Successful completion and acceptable results of post offer physical examination, drug screening, and criminal background check.
