Job Description

The Development Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the operations and efficiency of the National Indian Health Board’s (NIHB) Development and Strategic Engagement Department. This position is responsible for managing donor data and reporting systems, supporting fundraising campaigns and events, assisting with partnership development, and ensuring smooth operations across all development activities. The Coordinator will oversee Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, track key performance indicators (KPIs), impact reporting, and provide administrative and logistical support to help the department achieve its fundraising and partnership goals.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about advancing the health and well-being of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Data and Systems Management
•Manage and maintain Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, ensuring donor data is accurate, up-to-date, and secure.
•Generate regular reports and dashboards on fundraising performance, donor activity, and departmental KPIs.
•Support data segmentation for donor cultivation, campaigns, and stewardship activities.

Fundraising Operations Support
•Assist in the execution of annual giving campaigns, corporate sponsorship, membership programs, and event logistics.
•Process donations, generate tax acknowledgment letters, and maintain timely donor stewardship practices.
•Coordinate with finance staff to reconcile revenue and ensure accurate gift processing.

Administrative and Logistical Support
•Provide scheduling, project tracking, and documentation support for development team activities.
•Assist with preparing presentations, proposals, and donor materials.
•Manage event logistics, including donor receptions, sponsorship activations, and conferences.

Collaboration and Communication
•Work closely with development staff to ensure smooth execution of campaigns and fundraising initiatives.
•Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to support donor outreach and stewardship messaging.
•Serve as a primary point of contact for internal data and reporting needs.

Stewardship
•Assist in the development and distribution of donor impact reports, newsletters, annual reports, and personalized stewardship materials that highlight NIHB’s mission and impact.
•Coordinate the collection, organization, and validation of programmatic, financial, and donor engagement data to support impact reporting, stewardship materials, and compliance requirements.
•Maintain reporting systems, calendars, templates, and documentation to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent donor, grant, sponsorship, and annual reporting.
•Collaborate across departments to develop compelling narratives, impact stories, visual materials, and performance reports that align with donor priorities, funding agreements, and organizational goals.

 REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
•3+ years of experience in nonprofit development, operations, or administrative support.
•Experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office 365, and project management technology (Monday.com preferred).

Skills and Competencies:
•Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
•High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, reporting, and documentation.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with diverse stakeholders.
•Familiarity with fundraising practices, donor stewardship, and event planning.
•Commitment to NIHB’s mission and an understanding of Tribal communities preferred.

Compensation and Work Location:
This position is based in the Washington, DC Metro area; however, fully remote candidates will be considered. The listed salary range reflects compensation for candidates in the Washington, DC Metro area or those willing to relocate. Remote candidates outside this region may receive adjusted compensation reflective of their local market and geographic location.
