Job Description

The ideal candidate will be an engaged leader with a continuous improvement mindset, who has 8-10 years of experience in Leading manufacturing teams and/or Materials Management, preferably in the Automotive field.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for leading a team of cross functional associates in making the Production Hall successful.
  2. A focus on creating and maintaining a team centered work environment that is safe and provides a quality product to the customer on time.
  3. Works directly with Leadership Team to establish Core Company Goals and Actions.
  4. Owns and is accountable for the production hall performance.
  5. Plans and directs all hall teams to assure Goals and Actions are meet and tracked.
  6. Cultivate a safety first, family oriented, continuous improvement culture.
  7. Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws
  8. Oversees process capabilities, OEE and other data to monitor production system performance. Works cross functionally with other team members to address opportunities for improvement with data.
  9. Provides management of hourly associates through Shift Leaders to ensure effective selection, development, coaching, retention, performance management, talent distribution, and disciplinary actions.
  10. Responsible for expense management to ensure labor planning, overtime expectations, value add contribution, direct and indirect labor percentages, and all other variable operational expenses are kept in line.
  11. Ensures Standard Operating Procedures within the production management system are adhered to and audited in accordance with both internal and external requirements.
  12. Develop annual operational budget for production including such items as labor, overtime, absenteeism, spare parts, scrap, etc.
  13. Audits processes within production, quality and safety for systemic improvements.
  14. Leads the development plan to further strengthen the operations team.
  15. Assist Project team in developing new products.
  16. Manages and develops Shop Floor and CIP teams.
  17. Manage all customer service, capacity planning, scheduling, inventory control, and logistics activities for business to meet customer requirements.
  18. Thorough working knowledge of logistics, processes and procedures
  19. Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures
  20. Extensive knowledge of material work planning, methods, and procedures
  21. Extensive knowledge and ability to negotiate best logistics terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  22. Responsible for the analysis of sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements
  23. Responsible for effectively planning, directing, and executing the activities of the materials team using a systems and database approach to meet the needs of the business
  24. Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
  25. Responsible for acting on order releases action and exception messages and on time deliveries to meet customer delivery requirements.
  26. Interface with all others on material status and production planning issues.
  27. Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
  28. Responsible for reporting and analyzing all material metrics for leadership team
  29. Ensures budget rules are followed.
  30. Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers
  31. Responsible for all receiving materials, tracking, and distribution
  32. Manage forecast and on-time delivery from suppliers
  33. Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics
  34. Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred.
  2. Eight to ten years of leading Manufacturing Teams and/or Material Management experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
  3. Proficient Computer Skills with working knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, & Excel.
  4. Ability to perform effectively and efficiently under production and time pressures in a fast pace, culturally diverse environment.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication and time management skills.
  6. Strong process improvement, analytical and strategic planning skills.
  7. Planning Ahead: Think forward, anticipate issues and plan for contingencies.
  8. Showing Responsibility: Build awareness of responsibility to the bigger team beyond immediate work tasks and colleagues
  9. ERP/MRP management system experience
  10. Experience implementing scanner warehouse management system(s)
  11. Warehouse management using 5S, Kanban, FIFO and lean inventory management practices
  12. Experience in International Supply Chain Management
  13. Negotiating Skills
  14. Attention to Detail: Check the detail for getting quality right.
  15. Ability to work overtime as required.
  16. Ability to follow directives and policies of the Company.
  17. Ability to hold a passport and travel internationally without accompaniment.
