Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Platform Engineer based in United States.
This is a high-impact opportunity to own and scale the infrastructure powering a modern developer platform. You will take end-to-end responsibility for cloud infrastructure, reliability, security, and the data layer. A major focus will be turning Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) and private-cloud deployments into scalable, repeatable products rather than bespoke implementations. You will shape infrastructure strategy, establish strong engineering standards, and help a lean team ship quickly and reliably as the platform grows. The role combines deep technical ownership with product thinking and close attention to customer needs. You will have significant influence over architecture, roadmap decisions, and the evolution of the platform.
- Own and scale the cloud infrastructure supporting the platform, including compute, networking, and core data services.
- Lead the development and productization of BYOC and private-cloud deployments, including provisioning, upgrades, monitoring, and operational scalability.
- Build and improve Infrastructure as Code and GitOps foundations, creating reusable and reliable systems that enable a small engineering team to operate efficiently.
- Establish reliability as a core product capability by defining meaningful SLOs, improving observability, and developing trusted incident-management practices.
- Own and evolve the data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and ClickHouse, as usage and workloads grow.
- Drive infrastructure-related security and compliance initiatives covering areas such as SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, penetration testing, and enterprise security reviews.
- Make high-impact technical decisions that shape the infrastructure roadmap, engineering practices, and broader product strategy.
- Collaborate closely with developers and customers to understand infrastructure challenges and translate them into practical, scalable solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of strong ownership, pragmatic decision-making, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- 10+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or a closely related discipline, with a proven track record of operating high-traffic production systems.
- Deep hands-on Kubernetes experience, combined with strong judgment around when Kubernetes is appropriate and when alternative approaches are preferable.
- Demonstrated experience operating software in environments outside your direct control, such as BYOC, single-tenant, on-premises, or air-gapped environments.
- Strong AWS expertise, with exposure to GCP and Azure considered an advantage.
- Extensive experience with Terraform, including reusable modules, secure state management, and multi-account cloud architectures.
- Strong database expertise, particularly PostgreSQL, including performance optimization, migrations under load, and replication.
- Practical experience with security and compliance programs such as SOC 2 or ISO audits, penetration testing, and enterprise security reviews.
- A strong product mindset and developer empathy, with the ability to understand customer problems and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Familiarity with TypeScript and Node.js is valuable for collaborating across the broader technology stack.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote-first environment.
- A proactive, pragmatic, and low-ego approach, with a willingness to take ownership during incidents and help unblock teammates.
- Demonstrated autonomy and comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
- Based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.
- Competitive salary of $140,000–$220,000 USD, depending on location and experience.
- Equity participation, allowing employees to share in the company's growth.
- Opportunity to join a highly autonomous, technically ambitious environment where engineers have substantial influence over product and infrastructure decisions.
- Remote-first work across North America, Latin America, and Europe.
- Significant ownership over cloud infrastructure, platform architecture, BYOC, security, reliability, and the data layer.
- Opportunity to shape infrastructure standards and strategy as the platform scales.
- Exposure to complex developer infrastructure challenges across multiple cloud and deployment environments.
- A collaborative environment focused on developer experience, pragmatic engineering, and high-impact work.
