Director, AI Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, AI Operations based in United States.

The Director, AI Operations will define and lead an enterprise AI portfolio focused on operational transformation, service delivery, and measurable business performance. This senior leadership role will identify high-value AI opportunities and translate them into scalable, practical solutions that improve workflows and operational efficiency. The position will shape AI roadmaps, governance frameworks, investment priorities, and execution models across a complex organization. It will work closely with Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, Analytics, and AI strategy teams to deliver meaningful business outcomes. The role also champions responsible AI adoption, organizational enablement, and continuous innovation. Success requires balancing strategic vision with operational rigor, technical understanding, risk management, and strong executive influence.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the strategy, governance, prioritization, and execution of an AI portfolio aligned with operational priorities, business objectives, and broader organizational strategy.
  • Develop and manage an AI roadmap covering use-case identification, investment prioritization, implementation planning, scalability, and measurement of business outcomes.
  • Evaluate AI opportunities based on business value, operational impact, feasibility, scalability, and expected return on investment.
  • Drive operational transformation through AI-enabled workflow redesign, automation, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish performance metrics, dashboards, governance practices, and reporting mechanisms to track workflow health, adoption, operational performance, and realized business impact.
  • Partner across Operations, Product, Engineering, Data, Analytics, and AI teams to deliver scalable AI-enabled solutions and maintain strong cross-functional alignment.
  • Lead governance forums, operating rhythms, delivery reviews, and strategic decision-making processes to ensure initiatives achieve technical and business objectives.
  • Develop frameworks, standards, best practices, and governance processes that promote responsible, safe, and effective AI adoption.
  • Build organizational AI fluency through enablement programs, knowledge sharing, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for AI program execution, operational enablement, and business transformation.
  • Advise senior leaders on AI enablement, operational transformation, organizational effectiveness, change management, and strategic execution.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, innovation, continuous improvement, and customer-focused results.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, combined with 10+ years of progressive experience in operations, process improvement, operational transformation, business strategy, product operations, automation, or technology-enabled transformation.
  • Proven experience leading strategic portfolios, roadmaps, and large-scale transformation initiatives within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong understanding of AI, data, analytics, automation, and technology-enabled business initiatives, with the ability to translate emerging capabilities into practical operational value.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders, build alignment across functions, and balance innovation with operational rigor, risk, scalability, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience establishing performance metrics, dashboards, governance structures, and measurement practices that demonstrate adoption, workflow health, and business impact.
  • Strong people leadership capabilities, including experience developing high-performing teams, coaching leaders and individual contributors, building organizational capabilities, and fostering accountability and inclusion.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn complex business and technical challenges into clear execution plans.
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, highly collaborative environments where priorities evolve and decisions require sound judgment and discretion.
  • A strong commitment to customer experience, continuous learning, innovation, responsible technology adoption, and delivering measurable results.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including nights and weekends when business needs require.
