Sr. Professional Services Consultant - Microsoft Modern Workplace

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Professional Services Consultant - Microsoft Modern Workplace based in the United States.

This is a senior consulting role focused on designing, implementing, and optimizing Microsoft Modern Workplace solutions for enterprise clients.
You’ll serve as a technical lead and trusted advisor, translating complex business and technology requirements into practical, scalable solutions.
The role spans solution architecture, migrations, security, identity, endpoint management, collaboration, implementation, and knowledge transfer.
You’ll lead client engagements and project teams while remaining hands-on with Microsoft technologies and enterprise environments.
Your expertise will help organizations modernize their workplaces, strengthen security and compliance, and improve the employee technology experience.
You’ll also contribute to standards, best practices, process improvements, assessments, and the evolution of professional services capabilities.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Microsoft specialist who combines deep technical expertise with strong consulting, communication, and client relationship skills.

Accountabilities:
  • Solution consulting and delivery: Lead the design, planning, implementation, validation, documentation, troubleshooting, and support of Microsoft Modern Workplace solutions for enterprise clients.
  • Technical leadership: Act as a subject matter expert and technical lead throughout complex engagements, providing implementation guidance, recommendations, and best practices.
  • Microsoft solution architecture: Develop solution designs and implementation plans aligned with client requirements, business objectives, technical standards, and operational needs.
  • Client discovery: Work directly with clients to understand their technology environments, gather detailed requirements, identify challenges, develop solution approaches, and build proofs of concept where appropriate.
  • Microsoft migrations: Lead and support Active Directory implementations and migrations, Office 365 migrations from various Exchange environments, and hybrid Microsoft environments.
  • Security and endpoint solutions: Implement and advise on Microsoft 365 security and management capabilities, including identity and access management, endpoint management, data protection, compliance, threat detection, and security analytics.
  • Collaboration technologies: Design and implement Microsoft Teams environments, including integrations and migrations involving Skype for Business.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative, deployment, migration, and management activities.
  • Project leadership: Lead project teams and coordinate with project management and resource management functions to ensure engagements remain on schedule and deliver expected outcomes.
  • Assessments and optimization: Conduct technology assessments, health checks, performance testing, capacity planning, and other consulting activities to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Knowledge transfer: Deliver consultative training, documentation, and knowledge-transfer sessions that enable clients and internal teams to effectively operate and maintain implemented solutions.
  • Standards and continuous improvement: Develop standards for scoping, documentation, and implementation while contributing to product evaluation, process refinement, and professional services best practices.
  • Client relationships: Build credibility and trust through strong communication, active listening, expectation management, and consistent delivery against commitments.
  • Quality and compliance: Maintain high standards of professionalism, customer service, ethical conduct, and compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and professional requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Professional experience: Approximately 8+ years of experience designing, consulting on, implementing, and supporting Microsoft solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Active Directory: Strong experience with Active Directory implementations and migrations.
  • Microsoft 365: Extensive experience with Office 365 migrations, Exchange environments, and hybrid configurations.
  • Identity and access: Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Entra ID, including identity and access management and multifactor authentication.
  • Endpoint management: Experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management and mobile device security.
  • Security and compliance: Knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Sentinel, and Microsoft Entra ID Protection.
  • Collaboration: Strong understanding of Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business integration and deployment.
  • Migration technologies: General knowledge of tools such as Quest On Demand Migration, MigrationWiz, and ShareGate.
  • PowerShell: Strong PowerShell scripting capabilities and the ability to automate Microsoft environment administration and deployment activities.
  • Productivity tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Certifications: Two or more relevant Microsoft certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, or Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals; additional certifications such as Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator Expert, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, or Endpoint Administrator Associate are highly valuable.
  • Consulting skills: Ability to conduct detailed client consultations, define requirements, recommend appropriate solutions, and manage expectations throughout complex engagements.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting professionally with both external clients and internal teams.
  • Project management: Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients, competing priorities, and complex projects.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Client focus: Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships and maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Self-direction: Self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel nationally to meet with clients when required.
Benefits
  • Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year, plus bonus.
