The Epic Application Manager plays a key role in providing the highest quality of patient care while the patient is in at Union Health. The Epic Application Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, build, implementation, and support of Epic applications across the organization. This leadership role ensures that Epic systems meet clinical and operational needs, comply with regulatory standards, and support strategic initiatives. The manager leads a team of analysts and coordinators and collaborates with clinical, revenue cycle, and IT stakeholders to ensure optimal system performance and user satisfaction.

Epic Application Manager Details
Essential Job Duties:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Epic analysts and application coordinators across one or more Epic modules.
- Serve as the primary liaison between IT, clinical, and operational leaders to align system functionality with organizational goals.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of Epic application support, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and requests.
- Manage and prioritize build requests, upgrades, optimization initiatives, and system enhancement projects.
- Ensure compliance with Epic best practices, organizational policies, and change control processes.
- Coordinate and support Epic upgrades, system maintenance, testing efforts, and go-lives.
- Monitor application performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Develop team goals, KPIs, and performance evaluations in alignment with IS strategic objectives.
- Collaborate with Epic representatives, third-party vendors, and internal PMO on project deliverables.
- Manage application budget and resource allocation for the assigned Epic domain.
- Develops and maintains hiring standards and training/development programs that ensure that the IS department maintains a high level of technical skill and proficiency.
- Assist with design, planning, analysis, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of computer applications.
- Functions as a change agent to help promote organization adoption of electronic medical record and workflow to optimize patient safety and experience.
- Contributes to the overall strategy and planning of the new and optimization of EMR and clinical solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of EMR Epic application experience, including at least 2 years in a team leadership or management role.
- Epic experience is preferred
- Current Epic certification in one or more applications (e.g., Epic Ambulatory, Epic Inpatient, Epic Resolute) or willing to obtain within 90 days.
- Proven leadership in Epic or other implementations, upgrades, or optimization efforts.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations and workflows.
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, MBA, or related field is preferred.
- Experience in large, integrated delivery systems.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, project management methodologies, and change management practices.
