Job Description
As a Senior Manager, Tax Advisory & Planning on the Advanced Planning Strategies team, you'll play a pivotal role by helping clients with strategies that will help them reduce the impact of taxes so they can save more and accomplish their long-term financial goals. You will advocate for tax solutions that will enhance the EFE mission and increase the overall service offering to our clients and planners. This individual will foster innovation and excellence through the management of tax strategies, programs, policies, and projects all to support our end clientele. The ideal candidate will be client centric, energetic, broadly knowledgeable about tax law, be a highly effective communicator with demonstrated strengths across tax disciplines, and have experience managing projects and processes. Along with successful experience as a tax manager, preferably with suitable experience in public accounting and/or an RIA, the manager will bring a collaborative attitude and energy toward enhancing and serving the client experience.

Responsibilities:
- Work directly with clients and planners to help consult and advise on tax implications, liabilities, and strategies as they relate to a clients financial plan
- Communicate effectively and responsively to client enquiries from clients, planners, partners and leadership
- Keep current with accounting and tax issues and legislative changes
- Building an increasingly robust tax practice, including growing the consulting team and instilling best practices across tax professionals, keeping abreast of new trends and best practices in the tax landscape and taking the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity
- Working closely with partners to define and deliver new tax service enhancements relative to new needs or optimization and creating overall tax standards and practices that adhere to regulatory standards
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or higher in accounting
- CPA/EA/LLM in good standing and clean regulatory history
- 7+ years of experience with tax planning/tax preparation, especially in investment taxation, retirement plan optimization, and equity compensation experience with an RIA or wealth management firm preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills, and a proven track record supporting client relationships; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform work efficiently to meet deadlines
- Experience with tax planning software (Holistiplan preferred)
- Experience as a people leader preferred
- Some travel (5-10%) may be required
Edelman Financial Engines takes a market-based approach to pay. The expected base salary range for this role nationally is $167,000 - $175,000. However, final base pay will be carefully determined based on several factors, including responsibilities, job-related skills, relevant experience, geographic location, and market conditions. Additionally, this role may be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.
