Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Shift Supervisor. The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the Warehouse Supervisor in overseeing a team of associates for our 3PL facility. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing strong leadership guidance for all associates on the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervisory & Personnel Management
- Assist the Shift Supervisor with daily operations and perform full supervisory duties during their absence.
- Assign daily tasks, direct warehouse personnel, evaluate employee performance, and provide regular coaching and performance reviews.
- Coordinate labor schedules based on carrier deliveries; manage vacation requests, approve attendance, and process accurate timesheets.
- Recommend and approve emergency overtime in accordance with facility policies and labor laws.
- Address employee concerns promptly and collaborate across departments to resolve operational and interpersonal issues.
Operations, Safety & Compliance
- Train staff on safe operating procedures, material handling techniques, and equipment use, ensuring strict adherence to OSHA and Illinois safety standards.
- Safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, pallet stackers, and transport vehicles) dependent on qualifications (DOQ).
- Maintain accountability for site safety, maintaining clean and orderly work areas, and ensure the timely, accurate filing of workplace injury and accident reports.
- Enforce site security protocols to safeguard inventory, confidential records, and warehouse property.
Inventory Management & Logistics
- Plan, organize, and supervise the receiving, storage, inspection, and issuing of warehouse stock and customer orders.
- Manage defective, damaged, or rejected goods, as well as obsolete equipment, ensuring proper disposal in compliance with Village of Glendale Heights waste management regulations.
- Direct loading and unloading of delivery vehicles, resolve carrier delivery issues, and handle claims or freight adjustments.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, vendors, and external partners to exchange information and resolve operational issues.
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate inventory documentation, shipping records, and confidential files according to company retention policies.
- Must be 18 years of age or older, possess a High School Diploma or GED, and demonstrate English language proficiency (verbal and written); Spanish language skills preferred.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, multitask, work efficiently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly workspace and executing all duties in compliance with OSHA safety regulations.
- Experience handling Dangerous Goods/Prohibited Goods is preferred.

- Schedule: 2nd Shift 3:30 PM – 12:30 AM. Mon - Fri
