Job Description

Lead Behavioral Health Care Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Behavioral Health Care Manager based in the United States.

Take a leadership role in expanding access to integrated behavioral healthcare for people living with cancer and other serious or chronic illnesses. As a licensed clinical leader, you will combine direct patient care with clinical supervision, crisis response, and team development. You will conduct assessments, support diagnostic decisions, and deliver evidence-based interventions while maintaining a small patient caseload. Working closely with consulting psychiatrists, oncology partners, and interdisciplinary care teams, you will help ensure patients receive coordinated, compassionate, and effective support. You will also use clinical data and quality metrics to strengthen care delivery, refine workflows, and develop team capabilities. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced, bilingual clinician who balances sound clinical judgment with empathy, accountability, and a commitment to measurable outcomes.

Accountabilities
  • Conduct initial biopsychosocial assessments, including safety screenings, standardized evaluations such as PHQ-9 and GAD-7, diagnostic assessments, and timely clinical documentation.

  • Provide diagnostic guidance and support for assessments completed by other members of the care team when needed.

  • Maintain a small caseload and deliver brief, evidence-based behavioral health interventions within a measurement-based care framework.

  • Serve as the clinical backup for acute patient-safety concerns and crisis situations across partner practices during designated coverage hours.

  • Perform risk assessments and develop safety plans, coordinating escalation with consulting psychiatrists, referring oncology teams, and emergency resources as appropriate.

  • Oversee referrals to clinically appropriate external services, including higher levels of care when necessary.

  • Supervise and support a team of Behavioral Health Care Managers, providing clinical consultation, coaching, and day-to-day guidance.

  • Train new and existing team members on clinical protocols, assessment tools, documentation standards, and evidence-based interventions.

  • Review clinical sessions and audit documentation for accuracy, quality, completeness, and timeliness.

  • Monitor team performance indicators, including documentation timeliness and patient outcomes, and use findings to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

  • Participate in performance evaluations and development or performance improvement plans in collaboration with clinical leadership.

  • Attend weekly interdisciplinary team meetings with consulting psychiatrists and other care professionals, including meetings supporting newly onboarded partner practices.

  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to improve workflows, refine protocols, and maintain consistent standards of care.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, clinical mental health counseling, psychology, or a closely related discipline.

  • Active, unrestricted independent clinical license as an LCSW, LICSW, LPC, or LMHC-D.

  • Professional fluency in both English and Spanish, including the ability to conduct clinical assessments, diagnose conditions, provide crisis intervention, and document care in both languages.

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health care management or direct clinical care, including experience supporting people with cancer, serious illnesses, or chronic medical conditions.

  • At least 3 years of experience supervising or leading clinicians, such as through clinical supervision or a team leadership role.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting behavioral health intakes, psychosocial assessments, and DSM-5-TR-based diagnostic evaluations.

  • Strong skills in suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis response.

  • Experience delivering evidence-based interventions, including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral activation, and psychoeducation.

  • Background in oncology, integrated or collaborative care models (CoCM), primary care, or telehealth.

  • Experience leading remote or geographically distributed teams.

  • Familiarity with measurement-based care and the use of clinical data to monitor quality and improve outcomes.

  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide direct, supportive feedback and maintain high clinical standards.

  • Excellent organizational skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.

  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment that requires adaptability, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Availability to work full-time during Mountain Time business hours, including providing crisis coverage through 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time (5:00 p.m. Mountain Time).

  • Ability to work remotely while serving patients across the United States.

Benefits
  • Annual salary: $90,000–$95,000.

  • Remote work: Fully remote position serving patients nationwide.

  • Paid time off: Generous PTO, including national holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year's.

  • Health insurance: Employer-covered health insurance options.

  • Dental and vision coverage: Benefits to support overall health and well-being.

  • Retirement savings: Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.

  • Flexible spending options: Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and dependent care spending options.

  • Meaningful clinical impact: The opportunity to improve behavioral healthcare access and outcomes for people navigating cancer and other serious health conditions.

  • Professional leadership opportunities: The ability to mentor clinicians, strengthen care practices, and contribute to the development of an interdisciplinary behavioral health program.
