Manager, Engineering in at Nerdy

Overview

As the engineering manager, you will lead a squad to operate and evolve our technology platform, provide clear technical direction, and develop the engineers who build and run it.

Responsibilities

• Own the operation and ongoing innovation of the technology platform serving thousands of students.
• Provide direction and oversight for technical architectures and systems design.
• Lead and support engineers—set clear objectives, monitor progress, and remove blockers.
• Continuously monitor, improve, and optimize team performance and the systems they build.
• Embed AI in product and platform workflows in partnership with DS/ML (e.g., recommendations, ranking, copilots); ship to production with robust evaluation and monitoring.
• Drive AI-native developer productivity by standardizing modern tooling and automation (code assistants, prompt/tool orchestration, CI bots) to reduce cycle time and defects.
