Where you'll work:

How you'll contribute:

As a Senior Accountant, Reinsurance, you'll be responsible for supporting Brighthouse Financials' reinsurance subsidiaries' accounting and reporting functions. Coordinates with team for successful completion of the financial statements, preparation of monthly journal entries, reinsurance settlements and models, analysis, account reconciliations, and participation in unit projects to maintain and improve business continuity. Works within reporting requirements and guidelines of applicable regulatory agencies to maintain records and prepare required financial reports.

In this role, you'll get to:

  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end regulatory reporting, financial statements and related information for both GAAP and STAT accounting.
  • Research variances and reviews monthly/quarterly analytics.
  • Reviews/completes monthly/quarterly reconciliations.
  • Review/prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations and monthly financial reporting.
  • Review/prepare monthly reinsurance settlements and models.
  • Interact and coordinate with the lines of business, reinsurers, administrative areas and actuaries in carrying out assigned financial reporting responsibilities.
  • Process improvements, ongoing initiatives and projects and communication with management on progress of such items.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

We're looking for people who have:

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance.
  • 5 or more years of experience in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting practices/procedures.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and must be able to learn other systems used quickly as the projects will require a lot of research and analysis.

  • Compensation – Base salary ranging from $78,000 to $90,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results.
