Position Summary:
Join our vibrant team at the Princeton YMCA as a Sports Instructor, where you will play a key role in fostering the physical development and well-being of children through engaging sports and recreational activities. We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who are passionate about creating a positive, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, skill development, and fun. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to youth development while gaining valuable experience in a supportive community setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in supervising children during various sports, recreational, and after-school activities
- Support the planning and execution of engaging, age-appropriate sports programs
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior among children
- Help set up and clean up activity areas and equipment
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to ensure a positive experience
Skills and Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic and energetic with a passion for working with children
- Prior experience in sports, recreation, or youth programs is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Responsible, reliable, and committed to safety
- Ability to adapt activities to different age groups and skill levels
- Must be able to pass background checks and adhere to YMCA policies
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience working with children age ranges 2-12 years up
- Sound judgment, ability to prioritize and be self-directed, and work independently
- Ability to work flexibly with a collaborative team of staff members and volunteers
- Ability to maintain systems for accurate record keeping
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire
- Must be willing to work with all persons without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socioeconomic status or disability
- Positive, “can do” attitude which is demonstrated by a willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed as well as an ability to anticipate what is needed Must be committed to the goals and objectives of the Princeton YMCA programs
- Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with YMCA standards and best practices
