S&S Plumbing Contractors is looking for an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator who understands the big picture, enjoys building relationships, and knows how to put together competitive, profitable bids.
We're not looking for someone who simply performs takeoffs. We want a motivated, detail-oriented professional who can evaluate a project from start to finish, identify opportunities for cost savings, negotiate competitive pricing, and communicate confidently with general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Commercial plumbing estimating experience is preferred, but we welcome candidates with estimating experience in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or other commercial construction trades.

What You'll Be Doing

• Review commercial construction plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate, competitive estimates.
• Perform detailed material takeoffs, labor calculations, and project cost analysis using estimating software.
• Evaluate the entire project, identifying potential challenges, scope gaps, risks, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing while maintaining quality and project requirements.
• Communicate confidently with general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other industry professionals.
• Build and maintain strong business relationships while pursuing new bidding opportunities.
• Prepare professional bid proposals, including scope details, alternates, clarifications, and exclusions.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, project meetings, and occasional jobsite visits.
• Collaborate with our Project Superintendent and field management team to ensure projects are properly estimated and executed.
• Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, and identifying ways to improve profitability.
• Track bid opportunities, results, and awarded projects.

What We're Looking For

• Previous estimating experience in commercial new construction is required.
• Plumbing estimating experience is preferred; HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and other commercial trade estimating backgrounds will be considered.
• Experience with Trimble AutoBid Mechanical, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar estimating programs.
• Strong computer skills are a must, including proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital construction documents.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently engage with and build strong professional relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Confident negotiating skills and the ability to recognize cost-saving opportunities.
• Ability to look beyond individual line items and understand how the overall project comes together.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a team.

Position Details
Location: Converse, TX – Office-Based
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM (one-hour unpaid lunch)
Overtime: As needed based on project demands
Reports To: Master Plumber / Operations & Field Management
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications.
