Job Description

Help Lead the Next Chapter of PCGH.

For more than 50 years, PCGH, Inc. has been part of the Person County community, supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Today, our nonprofit organization serves approximately 100 individuals through residential, day, and community-based programs.

We're looking for an experienced Executive Director who can build on that foundation, lead a diverse organization, and help determine where PCGH goes next.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands the realities of operating regulated disability services and has the leadership experience, business judgment, and initiative to move an established organization forward.

Location: Roxboro, North Carolina
Position: Executive Director / Corporate Compliance Officer
Reports to: Board of Directors

The Opportunity

PCGH operates intermediate care facilities, community residential programs, adult day services, and other supports for adults with I/DD and TBI. Each program brings distinct staffing, regulatory, financial, and operational responsibilities.

The Executive Director provides overall leadership for these services, directly supervises the agency's management team, and works closely with the Board of Directors on organizational priorities and long-term planning.

We're especially interested in leaders who have successfully guided organizations through growth, operational improvements, changing service demands, or significant transitions. The ability to recognize opportunities, build consensus, make difficult decisions, and follow through will be essential.

What You'll Lead
  • Agency operations: Provide executive oversight of multiple residential, day, and community-based programs, maintaining high standards for safety, service quality, and accountability.
  • Management and workforce: Supervise and develop department leaders, strengthen collaboration, and partner with HR and program leadership to support workforce stability and professional development.
  • Financial stewardship: Direct agency budgeting, financial monitoring, resource allocation, internal controls, and regular reporting to the Board.
  • Regulatory compliance: Serve as Corporate Compliance Officer, overseeing licensure, accreditation, Medicaid and managed care requirements, internal quality systems, and regulatory readiness.
  • Organizational development: Evaluate existing programs, identify opportunities for improvement, and guide sustainable growth or changes in services based on community needs and organizational capacity.
  • Facilities and resources: Oversee the effective use, maintenance, and long-term planning of agency properties, vehicles, equipment, and other operational resources.
  • Community and Board relationships: Maintain productive relationships with the Board, families, regulators, funding partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience We're Looking For

Successful candidates will bring substantial leadership experience in disability services, along with demonstrated success managing people, programs, finances, and compliance in a complex operating environment.

    Required qualifications:

  • Significant professional experience supporting individuals with I/DD and TBI, including leadership of residential services for adults with I/DD.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing multiple programs, departments, or service locations.
  • Experience supervising management-level employees and developing effective leadership teams.
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid-funded services, waiver requirements, licensure, regulatory compliance, and quality oversight.
  • Experience developing, administering, and monitoring organizational budgets.
  • Ability to meet applicable North Carolina Qualified Professional (QP) standards.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational leadership skills.
  • Especially valuable experience:

  • Executive or senior operational leadership within a nonprofit or disability-services organization.
  • Leading organizational transitions, program expansion, strategic initiatives, or operational improvements.
  • Experience with ICF/IID services, HCBS requirements, and North Carolina's Medicaid and managed care systems.
  • CARF accreditation, regulatory surveys, corrective action planning, and organizational quality improvement.
  • Working directly with a nonprofit Board of Directors.
  • Community partnerships, resource development, and identifying new service or funding opportunities.
  • Experience supporting programs across North Carolina or Virginia.
  • The Leadership Challenge

PCGH has a long history, established programs, dedicated employees, and deep community relationships. Continuing that legacy requires thoughtful decisions about how services are delivered, how resources are invested, and how the organization prepares for the future.

We're looking for a leader who can evaluate the bigger picture without losing sight of daily operations; someone who listens carefully, communicates directly, develops capable managers, and takes responsibility for results.

The right candidate will bring both experience and ideas, with the judgment to know which changes are worth pursuing and the ability to lead people through them.

    Interested in Leading PCGH?

Please submit a resume highlighting relevant executive or senior leadership experience, particularly in I/DD residential services, multi-program operations, organizational management, and regulatory compliance.

We welcome candidates who have demonstrated the ability to strengthen established programs while preparing an organization for new opportunities.

Thank you for your interest in PCGH and the people and communities we serve.
