Job Description

The Reimbursement Specialist is responsible for the filing of all federal and state financial reporting, including Medicare/ Medicaid/ Tricare cost reports by applicable federal and state guidelines as well as Office of Statewide Planning and Development (OSHPD) reporting. The position represents the hospitals during Medicare, Medicaid cost report and OSHPD audits by providing all supporting work papers and documentation. The position ensures the appeal rights of all government programs have been preserved. The position works closely with Reimbursement Manager and Senior Analyst for the calculation of monthly AR reserve analysis, entries, and audit support; including coordinating with the business office on reimbursement and A/R issues, especially at month-end close. Prepares special projects as assigned by Reimbursement Manager and Senior Analyst or Senior Management.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent facilitation skills and project management skills that emphasize affecting change within their area of expertise.
• Ability to learn quickly, perform thorough analyses, and resolve problems.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Proactive, with the ability to independently work and manage the team.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other database structures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree; emphasis business or finance preferred
• Strong understanding of financial statements and financial concepts.
• One (1) year experience in accounting and/or operational experience
• One (1) year experience in Medicare and Medicaid Reimbursement experience

Preferred:
• Five (5) years of experience in government programs or finance role.
• Experience in a hospital, physician, or other provider healthcare environment
