The Rehab Aide/Interpreter is responsible for performing assigned duties in accordance with NRHN policies, procedures, and standards of care while supporting the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to quality outcomes.
Essential Responsibilities
- The Rehab Aide/Interpreter is responsible to assist the OT/PT in patient non-hands on treatment and medical translation to patients who have communication barriers due to LEP (Limited English Proficiency) as directed by the therapist and to assist in overall departmental operations by performing clerical and housekeeping as assigned by the supervisor.
- The bilingual aide will demonstrate dependability in all areas and will perform duties as assigned by the manager or therapist. Rehab Aide/Interpreter will also be responsible for assisting the licensed therapist supervising patients in group settings.
Qualifications
- Good general health and emotional stability.
- Ability to bend, lift or assist with transfers and ambulation.
- Adequate physical strength to assist with resistive activities.
- On the job training in use of equipment and in departmental methods and procedures.
- Dependable, conscientious and sincere interest.
- Ability to relate well to others and work with patients of all ages.
- Graduate from a certified medical interpreter program. Fluent in English and another specified language, including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in both languages.
- Desire to work with patients and families to maximize the rehabilitation experience.
