At Rocketship Public Schools, we unleash potential.

Position Overview

Rocketship Public Schools is seeking an outgoing, community-oriented Family Recruiter to help families across Milwaukee learn about the educational opportunities available at our schools.

Serving communities on Milwaukee’s Northside and Southside, the Family Recruiter will act as a visible and enthusiastic representative of Rocketship. This individual will build relationships with prospective families, participate in community outreach activities, and guide families through the initial stages of the student enrollment process.

This is a full time, field-based, and results-oriented position. The Family Recruiter will conduct outreach at community events, neighborhood gatherings, youth sporting events, local businesses, parks, community centers, and other high-traffic locations. The role also includes phone, text, and follow-up outreach with prospective families.

The successful candidate will be personable, dependable, comfortable initiating conversations, and motivated by measurable enrollment and community engagement goals. Spanish or other multilingual abilities are strongly valued but are not required.

Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach and Family Engagement
  • Conduct in-person outreach within neighborhoods and target areas identified in the regional recruitment plan.
  • Engage prospective families through door-to-door canvassing, community events, neighborhood gatherings, youth sporting events, local fairs, and other approved outreach activities.
  • Build relationships with community organizations, local businesses, family-focused programs, and other potential referral partners.
  • Distribute approved informational and promotional materials at community events and high-traffic locations.
  • Clearly communicate Rocketship’s mission, educational model, school offerings, and enrollment opportunities to prospective families.
  • Represent Rocketship professionally and positively in all interactions with families and community partners.
Family Recruitment and Enrollment Support
  • Generate interest among prospective families and encourage eligible families to begin the enrollment process.
  • Conduct phone calls, text outreach, and other approved follow-up communication with prospective and newly interested families.
  • Respond to general questions and help families understand the steps required to apply and enroll.
  • Maintain consistent communication with prospective families throughout the recruitment and enrollment process.
  • Partner with school-based teams and Office Managers to support a smooth transition once a family begins the enrollment process.
  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of enrollment events, informational sessions, school tours, and other family-facing activities.
Recruitment Tracking and Results
  • Accurately document family contacts, outreach activities, follow-up efforts, and enrollment progress in designated systems or tracking tools.
  • Provide timely updates regarding recruitment activity, family interest, barriers to enrollment, and follow-up needs.
  • Meet established expectations for outreach activity, family engagement, lead generation, and enrollment support.
  • Maintain accurate records and protect the confidentiality of student and family information.
  • Share community feedback and recruitment insights to help strengthen regional outreach strategies.
  • Support enrollment initiatives for both new and existing Rocketship schools.
  • Perform other recruitment and community engagement responsibilities aligned with regional enrollment priorities.
Qualifications

  • Commitment to Rocketship’s mission and belief that all students can achieve academic success.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and customer service skills.
  • Outgoing and comfortable initiating conversations with families and community members in public settings.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently complete required follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining accountable to team goals and expectations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with school teams, regional staff, families, and community partners.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new systems and applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including evenings and weekends based on community events and recruitment needs.
  • Ability to travel throughout designated Milwaukee recruitment areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in community outreach, family engagement, customer service, recruiting, student enrollment, sales, marketing, or a related field.

  • Experience working with families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Spanish-speaking or other multilingual ability.
