Position Summary
The Ambulance Detailer is responsible for the final cleaning, detailing, and cosmetic finishing of completed ambulances prior to customer delivery. This role ensures each vehicle meets high standards for cleanliness, appearance, and presentation, reflecting the quality and professionalism expected of emergency response vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed interior and exterior cleaning of completed ambulances prior to delivery.
- Wash, polish, and detail exterior surfaces, including painted panels, aluminum, stainless steel, and trim.
- Clean and detail interiors, including cabinets, seating, floors, walls, compartments, and patient care areas.
- Remove protective films, labels, residue, dust, and fingerprints from finished vehicles.
- Inspect vehicles for cosmetic defects or damage and report findings to supervisors
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Sales teams to ensure vehicles are delivery-ready.
- Safely operate detailing tools, equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain a clean, organized detailing area and properly store tools and materials.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical handling guidelines.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to detailing processes and vehicle presentation.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in vehicle detailing, automotive cleaning, or manufacturing preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to follow standardized work instructions and quality requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, kneel, and lift up to required limits.
Preferred Experience
- Experience detailing commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, or large vehicles.
- Familiarity with polishing, buffing, and surface finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling and PPE usage.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and finishing environment.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, water, and noise; PPE required.
- Ability to work around large vehicles and equipment safely
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work around paint fumes, solvents, and polishing compounds with appropriate PPE
Contingencies of Employment
- Successful completion of a background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical examination
- Successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, if applicable to the position
