Job Description

JDC Power Systems, LLC is looking for a motivated Entry-Level Field Service Technician (FSR1) to join our team and support our field operations. In this hands-on role, you will assist with the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and related equipment at client sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in electrical systems or industrial controls, with opportunities to learn and grow in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Field Service Support:
Assist in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic repair of electrical systems and equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and LV/MV switchgear.

Perform basic diagnostics on systems to identify issues and work with senior technicians to resolve them.

Support service calls under the guidance of more experienced technicians.

Customer Interaction and Support:

Serve as an assistant to the primary technician on-site, helping to address technical issues and supporting customer needs.

Observe and assist with customer training on basic operation and maintenance of their equipment.

Record service activities and maintain accurate logs of work completed.

Operational Efficiency:
Assist in maintaining accurate records of service work, time tracking, and inventory on-site.

Work with other technicians to ensure timely and effective service delivery.

Help resolve minor issues remotely when possible, with guidance from senior staff.

Health and Safety Compliance:

Adhere to company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry standards.

Participate in safety training and maintain certifications required by the company.

Assist with on-site safety audits and reviews as necessary

Qualifications

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is a plus.

Certifications such as NFPA 70E, OSHA 10, or other relevant safety certifications are preferred.

Experience:
0-2 years of experience in field service or hands-on technical work with electrical systems or industrial controls.

Basic understanding of electrical systems, transformers, circuit breakers, and other common electrical equipment is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:
Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with standard electrical tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeters).

Strong communication skills and the ability to learn from senior technicians.

Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements:

Willingness to travel occasionally, with some overnight stays.

A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics is a plus but not required.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with field service management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.

Ability to work independently and manage service priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

General Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per day) on job sites

Ability to bend, kneel, squat, crouch, and crawl in confined or restricted spaces

Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas

Ability to work in various industrial environments, including but not limited to indoors and outdoors, in dust and dirt, and in varying weather conditions and extreme temperatures

Lifting and Material Handling:

Frequently lift and carry materials and tools weighing up to 50 lbs

Occasionally lift and move materials up to 75 lbs with assistance or mechanical aids

Ability to push, pull, and maneuver equipment such as switchgear components, cable reels, and test equipment

Manual Dexterity and Tool Use:
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively

Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for terminating cables, wiring, and precision adjustments

Ability to work while wearing gloves and arc-flash PPE

Ability to comply with PPE requirements, including but not limited to working while wearing gloves and in full PPE, such as arc-flash suits, hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, and fall protection gear

Vision and Hearing:
Adequate visual acuity to read schematics, labels, and digital displays

Ability to distinguish colors for wiring identification

Ability to receive and respond to alarms, equipment sounds, verbal instructions, and safety communications through effective means

Work Environment Conditions:
Exposure to electrical hazards (energized and de-energized systems)

High noise levels requiring hearing protection

Dust, dirt, and industrial conditions typical of construction and energized facilities

Ability to comply with and work in full PPE including arc-flash suits, hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, and fall protection gear

Travel and Schedule Demands:
Ability to travel frequently (regional or national)

Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call schedules

Ability to adapt to extended shifts during commissioning and startup activities
