Job Description

Description:

Find your place. Build your future.

Learn what it actually takes to plan, coordinate, and execute exceptional private club events.

Pine Hollow Club’s 14-week Events & Catering Management Internship is a paid, hands-on experience designed for students interested in event planning, hospitality, and catering operations.

You will gain experience throughout the event lifecycle—from initial planning and event details through internal coordination, setup, execution, and post-event follow-up.

This is not an internship spent watching from the sidelines. You will work alongside the Events team and contribute to actual weddings, private celebrations, golf outings, receptions, dinners, and other Club functions.

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Spring/Summer 2027
  • 14-week program
  • Pay: [$17.00 per hour]
  • Reports to the Events Manager, with additional departmental mentors
  • Mid-program check-in and final performance evaluation

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE

Throughout the program, you will gain exposure to:

  • Weddings, private celebrations, golf outings, receptions, and dinners
  • The complete event planning and execution lifecycle
  • Banquet Event Orders and event documentation
  • Event timelines, checklists, and planning tools
  • Guest counts, menus, beverage selections, and special requests
  • Floor plans and room configurations
  • Event walkthroughs and readiness inspections
  • Room setup, transformation, and breakdown
  • Event-day timelines, guest flow, and service transitions
  • Vendor coordination when applicable
  • Contracts, deposits, guarantees, billing, and event revenue
  • Post-event follow-up and operational review
  • Coordination among Events, Food & Beverage, Culinary, Facilities, and other Club departments

HOW THE PROGRAM DEVELOPS

The program begins with an introduction to Pine Hollow’s event spaces, processes, documents, and service standards. You will then gain experience with event planning and coordination before becoming more closely involved in event preparation and live execution.

As you progress, you may help update event details, prepare timelines and checklists, review floor plans, attend walkthroughs, verify room readiness, coordinate with other departments, and take greater ownership of appropriate pieces of the event process.

The program concludes with an Events & Catering project focused on a real Club opportunity. You may develop an event concept, improve a planning tool or checklist, create a room-readiness guide, or recommend an improvement to an existing event process.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This opportunity may be a strong fit if you:

  • Are pursuing or recently completed a degree in event management, hospitality, business, communications, or a related field
  • Want to understand both the guest-facing and behind-the-scenes sides of event management
  • Are comfortable learning by actively participating in event preparation and execution
  • Have strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Are dependable, professional, adaptable, and attentive to detail
  • Can work approximately 35–40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends based on the Club’s event calendar
  • Are interested in developing a career in events, catering, or hospitality management

ACADEMIC CREDIT

Pine Hollow will work with participating students and their academic institutions to complete reasonable documentation needed for academic credit, including verification of hours and required employer evaluations.

If you want to learn how an event moves from an idea and a plan to a successfully executed experience, we invite you to apply.
