Job Description

Job Title: Accountant II

Department: Accounting

Location: Vancouver, WA Office

Reports To: Corporate Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary:

This position is responsible for processing payroll and accounts payable. The role serves as a liaison between Finance and operational leaders by communicating financial results, resolving issues, and providing timely information to managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

  • Payroll
    • Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or EFT.
    • Maintains reports of summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, etc.
    • Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments.
    • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
    • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
    • Maintains payroll guidelines via policies and procedures.
    • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying informed of existing and new legislation; adhere to requirements; and advise management.
    • Maintains data confidentiality
    • Ensure all payroll and HR invoices are processed to AP in a timely manner.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge via conferences, workshops, publications and networks.
  • Accounts Payable
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and vendor payments in accordance with company policies.
  • Research and resolve invoice, pricing, receiving, and payment discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate cost tracking for inventory purchases
  • Monitor open purchase orders, receipts, invoices, payments, statements
  • Maintain vendor relationships, compliance documentation.
  • Prepare accounts payable reporting and communicate issues to management.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries within 1 business day
  • Engage vendors actively
  • Ensure backup coverage is trained for your PTO
  • Accounting & Financial Support
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals and prepaid expenses.
  • Support month-end close activities and ensure GAAP-compliant accounting.
  • Identify and correct coding, process, and system issues.
  • Communicate financial information and reconciliation results to managers.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, and presentations for management.
  • Support process improvement, ERP optimization, and automation initiatives.

Coverage

  • Accountant II is primary for payroll processing and secondary for AP processing.
  • Accountant II is backed up by Corporate Controller for payroll processing and AP Accountant for AP processing.

Minimum Education, Experience & Skills

  • Degree in Business, Accounting, HR or related field.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, thorough and committed to meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Office in general).
  • Proficient in Payroll Processing Software (ADP Preferred)
  • Solid people and communication skills.
