Summary:
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for performing mechanical engineering and design for industrial, hydraulic applications. This includes generation of mechanical part and assembly drawings, project documentation and component selection.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Functional
- Analyzes customer's requirements to determine the optimal mechanical/hydraulic solution.
- Creates designs, drawings, and documentation including: hydraulic power units, hydraulic manifolds, hydraulic reservoirs, weldment drawings, machined components drawings, special assembly instructions, and test instructions.
- Assists shop management with procurement, manufacturing and testing of the order.
Interpersonal
- May serve as the primary technical interface with the customer for assigned projects
- Supports an environment conducive to successful team interaction
- Interacts with project management, project engineer, purchasing, and assembly personnel in support of project efforts.
- Obtains product technical information from venders or local/global standards as required.
- Supports an environment conducive to the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Business
- May provide support of proposal efforts or customer presentations.
- Responsible for following all applicable corporate, governmental and regulatory policies and procedures as appropriate for this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: BS in Engineering discipline, 2 year technical degree, or equivalent knowledge
Experience:
- Three years of experience in mechanical and/or hydraulic design using SolidWorks.
- Experience in designing hydraulic and/or mechanical assemblies. Experience with hydraulic manifolds, valves, actuators, pumps and power units is a plus.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical machine design utilizing SolidWorks.
- AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
- Application experience in hydraulic machinery, weldments, piping and BOM/part controls is a plus.
- An understanding of the operating principles and performance of standard fluid power components such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, etc. is a plus.
- Must perform duties in the office as part of a project team.
Communication:
- Strong communication skills to resolve complex issues and facilitate customer satisfaction.
- Ability to listen actively and provide feedback to internal teams to improve customer satisfaction.
Other:
- Satisfactory background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screening required.
