Job Description
Residence Inn near Universal is seeking a dependable and guest-focused Breakfast Attendant to support our daily complimentary breakfast operation. The Breakfast Attendant plays an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable start to each guest’s day by preparing and cooking breakfast items, maintaining a clean and well-stocked breakfast area, assisting guests, and completing food preparation for upcoming service.
The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for following established food preparation, sanitation, safety, and brand standards while providing friendly and professional service. This position requires the ability to work independently, anticipate breakfast needs, maintain organization during high-volume periods, and prepare the breakfast operation for the following day.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a warm, professional, and welcoming manner and provide assistance throughout breakfast service.
- Prepare and cook breakfast items according to established recipes, procedures, portion standards, and food-safety requirements.
- Set up the breakfast buffet prior to opening and ensure all required food, beverages, utensils, plates, cups, condiments, and service items are available.
- Complete daily breakfast prep lists and communicate shortages or supply needs to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Maintain organized refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and breakfast supplies using proper FIFO rotation practices.
- Wipe and sanitize guest tables, chairs, counters, buffet surfaces, beverage stations, and other high-touch areas throughout breakfast service.
- Wash, clean, and sanitize breakfast equipment, utensils, cookware, serving pieces, and food preparation surfaces.
- Properly store remaining food and supplies according to food-safety and hotel standards.
- Restock breakfast supplies and organize the breakfast area in preparation for the next day's service.
- Anticipate guest needs whenever possible and contribute to a positive overall guest experience.
- Maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor during high-volume breakfast periods.
- Communicate maintenance, equipment, food-quality, safety, or operational concerns to management promptly.
- Follow all Residence Inn, Marriott, StepStone Hospitality, health department, food-safety, and hotel policies and procedures.
- Previous hotel, restaurant, food & beverage, breakfast service, kitchen, or customer-service experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Food-handler certification or ability to obtain required food-safety certification within the required timeframe.
- Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with guests, coworkers, and management.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, organization, and detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities during high-volume breakfast periods.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and guest-focused when handling concerns or unexpected situations.
- Dependable and able to report for scheduled early-morning shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements associated with food preparation and cleaning.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move food products, supplies, equipment, and other items associated with breakfast operations.
- Ability to work around hot cooking equipment, refrigerated areas, cleaning products, and other conditions typical of a hotel breakfast operation.
- Ability to safely perform cleaning, cooking, food preparation, stocking, and breakdown duties throughout the shift
