Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Oversee the purchasing function and lead the commodity team to ensure cost control, supplier development, and on-time delivery of quality products and services. Drive supplier performance through the use of metrics and continuous improvement initiatives across assigned facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and develop commodity buyers including performance appraisals and the establishment of appropriate goals and objectives with measurable metrics.
- Work with GM of purchasing and drive proactive and corrective actions with all suppliers to provide the best quality, cost and delivery (QCD) to Prospira.
- Conduct market and supplier‑risk analyses (including USMCA, tariff fluctuations, and geopolitical risks) and perform total‑cost‑of‑ownership (TCO) assessments.
- Work with GM of purchasing on import tariff related issue and leading the buyers to conduct monthly tariff report.
- Work closely with launch teams to provide adequate support and leadership to get projects completed on time.
- Managing the resourcing RFQs and resourcing activities, working closely with the cross-functional team to provide an efficient performance to the RFQs.
- Visit supplier, as needed, to verify fulfillment of contractual obligations to Prospira and ensure that suppliers are servicing Prospira’s best interest.
- Maintain high ethical standards and professionalism in all areas of the Purchasing function.
- Set and track annual/quarter cost‑reduction targets (e.g., x % year‑over‑year savings).
- Work with the direct buyer to negotiate with suppliers for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
- Reviews, monitors and reports on market trends to ensure that Prospira is receiving the best price.
- Leading the direct buyer team in developing new supply sources.
- Collaborate with buyers to review supplier bids and make award decisions for resourcing projects.
- Reviews requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers.
- Work with the buyer to analyze quarterly pricing adjustments compared to standard pricing.
- Works closely with GM of purchasing in efforts to improve supply chain and reduce costs.
- Work with GM of purchasing to monitor continuous improvement efforts with suppliers.
- Work with GM of purchasing to lead the buyers to build strong ethical relationships with internal/external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
TRAVEL
Occasional travel to domestic and oversea supplier/headquarters locations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent education or combined experience.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in direct purchasing functions or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum three years’ negotiation and quoting experience required.
- Minimum three years negotiation, sourcing events, international purchasing and domestic/international supplier manager preferred.
- Previous automotive supper experience.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Suite and SAP.

- This position will support both our Findlay, Ohio and Upper Sandusky, Ohio facilities. Regular travel between the two locations will be required.
