Job Description
Position Description: About the Role
DACUT Cannabis is seeking an experienced, hands-on Facilities Manager – Cultivation to oversee the building systems, maintenance operations, equipment, and infrastructure supporting our commercial cultivation facility in Flint, Michigan.
This is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring the facility remains safe, operational, properly maintained, and capable of supporting continuous large-scale indoor cannabis production. The Facilities Manager will oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, vendors, facility projects, and emergency response while working closely with Cultivation leadership to minimize downtime and protect production.
Our cultivation operation depends heavily on HVAC, environmental controls, electrical systems, plumbing, irrigation, lighting, dehumidification, water systems, and other specialized equipment. The Facilities Manager must understand how these systems work together and the operational impact that equipment failures can have on a live crop.
The ideal candidate has significant experience managing facilities within a commercial, industrial, manufacturing, controlled-environment agriculture, or similar high-demand environment and is comfortable being both a manager and a hands-on problem solver.
Essential Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee the daily maintenance and operation of the cultivation facility and its critical building systems.
- Ensure HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, irrigation, water, environmental controls, and mechanical systems remain operational.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance concerns before they result in equipment failure.

- Maintain the overall condition, functionality, organization, and safety of the facility.
- Develop solutions for recurring facility and equipment issues.
- Maintain appropriate inventories of critical replacement parts, tools, filters, belts, sensors, and maintenance supplies.

- Work closely with Cultivation leadership to ensure environmental conditions remain within established parameters.
- Troubleshoot HVAC, dehumidification, ventilation, and environmental control issues.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs for HVAC equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify systems requiring repair, replacement, or upgrades.
- Respond immediately to HVAC or environmental failures that could jeopardize plant health or production.
- Coordinate with HVAC contractors and equipment manufacturers when specialized service is required.
Preventative Maintenance Program
- Develop, maintain, and enforce a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.

- Coordinate electrical repairs involving lighting, circuits, panels, motors, pumps, controls, and cultivation equipment.
- Identify electrical problems that require licensed electrical contractors.
- Coordinate outside electricians for repairs, upgrades, and installations.
- Ensure electrical work is completed safely and in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Monitor electrical infrastructure for potential overloads, failures, or operational concerns.

- Respond immediately to leaks, pump failures, drainage issues, and other water-related emergencies.
- Work with Cultivation leadership to ensure critical water and irrigation systems remain operational.

- Obtain quotes and assist with evaluating service proposals.
- Ensure vendors understand facility requirements and properly complete assigned work.

- Support fire, building, safety, and regulatory inspections.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Cultivation leadership to understand production schedules and facility priorities.
- Coordinate maintenance activities around plant schedules and critical cultivation operations.
- Partner with Compliance, Operations, Security, Inventory, and other departments as needed.
- Communicate planned shutdowns, equipment repairs, and facility projects in advance.
- Provide leadership with regular updates regarding equipment condition, outstanding repairs, projects, and facility risks.
- Balance immediate maintenance needs with long-term facility reliability.
