Inventory Specialist I – Automotive Salvage
Location: Highland Park (Detroit Area)
Schedule: Monday – Saturday (during normal business hours)
Pay Range: $18 - $20 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary
The Inventory Specialist I plays a critical role in evaluating vehicles and managing inventory within our salvage and warehouse operations. This position determines whether vehicles should be crushed or salvaged, inventories and prices parts, categorizes components for resale or scrap, and ensures accurate documentation in our yard management system (YMS).
This role is ideal for someone with strong automotive knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Determine whether vehicles should be crushed or inventoried for resale
Inventory and price parts based on condition and mileage
Categorize parts as warehouse, unbolted, bolted, or core
Inspect vehicles from auction and assess parts removal potential
Use VIN decoders to ensure accurate interchange and compatibility
Adjust descriptions and pricing after part testing
Tag engines for scrap or core and manage high-value components
Take vehicle photos for online platforms (Car-Part.com)
Maintain accurate records in YMS and ensure detailed part descriptions
Coordinate auction purchases and vehicle delivery logistics
Qualifications
Strong automotive product knowledge and part identification skills
Active driver’s license (chauffeur’s license preferred)
Experience in warehouse or distribution environment
Ability to lift 50–60 lbs and work in yard conditions
Basic computer and tablet proficiency
Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability
Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded
Automotive salvage or recycling experience is a plus.
