Job Description

ADVFN Group is a global group of companies with operations in multiple countries.

This role will be positioned under The Market Link – which is the capital markets marketing and investor acquisition division of the global group which drives the success behind group platforms - InvestorsHub (US), ADVFN (UK), Stockhouse (Canada) and HotCopper (Australia).

We help public companies connect with active retail investors through digital campaigns, content, sponsorships and data-driven programs. Millions of retail investors use our platforms, and issuers pay us to reach them.

We work hard, move fast and genuinely enjoy what we do.

The specific group entity you'll be employed by will be confirmed at offer stage based on your location.

The Opportunity

We are building out the US commercial team properly for the first time. This role owns the US market end to end, with the ability to sell across all four platforms wherever a mandate is cross-border.

This is a hunting role. You will generate your own pipeline every day, supported by our Business Development Associate team. The BDA function multiplies what you build; it does not replace it. The sellers who do well here like opening doors as much as they like closing them.

You Will Recognize This Job If

You currently sell investor communications, IR technology, financial media or disclosure services to public companies and the agencies that serve them. If you have carried a number at a firm like Business Wire, Notified, PR Newswire, Issuer Direct, Q4, EQS, ICR, Benzinga, Seeking Alpha or a comparable business, this is the same buyer, the same cycle and a considerably larger audience to sell against.

You already know how to talk to an IRO, a VP of corporate communications and a small-cap CEO in the same week without changing gears. You know what a quiet period is. You know why the disclosure language on a campaign matters.

What You Will Do

  • Own new business across the US market: issuers, IR firms, awareness agencies and capital markets advisors
  • Prospect daily. Your own outreach is a core, non-negotiable part of this role, not something you do until the pipeline fills. Calls, email and network activation, run through Salesforce, every day
  • Sell integrated investor marketing programs across InvestorsHub and, where the mandate fits, the wider platform group
  • Work with the BDA team to multiply that effort: define the target segments, shape the messaging, coach the call and convert the meetings they book. Mentoring the BDAs is a real part of the job, not a courtesy
  • Build and run a real pipeline in Salesforce, forecast it accurately and defend it in a weekly review
  • Grow accounts past the first campaign into renewing programs, which is where the money compounds
  • Partner with our UK, Canadian and Australian directors on cross-border mandates
  • Occasionally attend industry events, conferences and roadshows

Compensation

This is a low-base, high-commission role, and that is deliberate. The upside here is larger than almost anything comparable in B2B sales, because you are paid a real percentage of a real number rather than a token slice of a subscription.

  • Base: $85,000 to $90,000, reviewed at 12 months against defined attainment
  • Variable Pay/Incentive Compensation Plan (“ICP”)– set annually at end of financial year - June. For reference the current financial year ICP from July 2026 to June 2027:
    • Commission on deals you source and close yourself: 10% on cash contracts and 5% on the proceeds of equity-settled contracts, paid on what the shares actually sell for. Uncapped, with accelerators above target
    • Commission on deals a BDA generated for you: 7.5% on cash and 4% on equity proceeds, with the balance going to the associate who created the meeting. One support role per file
  • You choose how you work. Self-sourced deals pay the full rate. The strongest sellers here run their own pipeline and use BDA support to extend reach rather than replace it
  • What that means in practice: $1.2M in annual new business, self-sourced, earns approximately $120,000 in commission on cash deals alone. There is no ceiling

We publish the full commission plan before you sign. No hidden gates, no caps, no clawback games. If you want to understand what the ceiling actually looks like in practice, ask us in the interview and we will walk you through it deal by deal.

On the ramp. We expect a fast start. Someone genuinely senior in this market should be producing revenue well before month six, and we will agree specific 30, 60 and 90 day milestones with you in writing before you accept. Those will be commercial, not activity theater. We would rather be clear up front than have either of us discover a mismatch in month nine.

What You Bring

Required

  • 5+ years selling into public companies, investor relations firms or capital markets service providers
  • A demonstrable record of carrying and hitting a quota of $1M or more in annual new business
  • Demonstrable self-sourcing. We will ask what percentage of your closed business over the last two years you sourced yourself, and we will ask your references the same question. A book built entirely on inbound or SDR-fed pipeline will not transfer to this role
  • Comfort with a consultative, multi-touch cycle of 30 to 90 days at a mid-five-figure average deal size
  • CRM discipline. You will be asked to show how you segment a market, not just who you know
  • Working knowledge of US securities marketing disclosure practice, including Section 17(b)
  • Confident with Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outlook, Teams, Zoom and modern prospecting tools including AI

Strongly preferred

  • Existing relationships with US IR agencies and awareness firms, since much of this market is intermediated
  • Experience selling recurring media or subscription products rather than one-off placements
  • Small-cap, OTC or emerging growth market exposure
  • A real appetite for coaching. You will work with BDAs from day one and how well you develop them directly affects your own number

Please do not apply if

Your background is in stock promotion, paid touting, unregistered securities offerings or newsletter promotion campaigns. We operate a fully disclosed model in every market. Our US campaigns carry paid content disclosure and we expect everyone on the commercial team to understand why that matters. Candidates whose track record sits in the promotion space will not progress.

Why This Role And Not The One You Are In

  • The commission is the point. 10% on cash. Most senior sellers spend their careers negotiating for half of that, on a smaller number, with a cap on top
  • You keep what you build. Self-sourced business is where the accelerators live. If you resent feeding a house pipeline for a house rate, this structure is built for you
  • The audience is the moat. You are not selling reach you have to buy. We own the destination
  • Four platforms, one seller. Cross-border mandates are increasingly the norm and you sit at the center of the only group that can service all four major English-language retail markets
  • The territory is genuinely open. This is not an inherited book with the good accounts already picked over

Time Off

  • 10 days paid vacation to start, accruing from your first day
  • 15 days at your 3 year anniversary, then a further 5 days each year after that
  • 30 days maximum at your 6 year mark
  • Recognized US public holidays

Worth noting what that curve says. It keeps growing to year six because we are hiring for a career here, not a season.

How We Work

  • Remote-first, hours aligned to US markets. You work from a desk at home and sell across the country
  • Flexible around conferences, events and roadshows
  • High trust, high accountability. You will not be micromanaged, and you will know exactly what your number is
  • A six month introductory period applies
  • Clear goals, honest feedback and real support
  • You are encouraged to speak up, share ideas and take initiative

Process

We keep this short. Three conversations, no homework.

1. Introductory call, 30 minutes

2. Deep dive, 60 minutes, focused on your last two years of pipeline. Includes a short live exercise: we name a real US-listed company, give you ten minutes with your laptop, and you talk us through who you would contact, why that person and how you would open. Nothing to prepare

3. Final conversation and reference checks with your two most recent direct managers

If we both want to proceed, you get a written offer with a 30/60/90/180 day scorecard agreed before you sign. We would rather be specific now than have either of us discover a mismatch in month nine.
