Job Description

Chief of Staff

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Chief of Staff based in United States.

This is a high-impact generalist role at the center of a fast-growing, mission-driven organization focused on expanding access to peer-to-peer learning. You will work closely with executive leadership to turn an ambitious long-term vision into concrete strategies, systems, partnerships, and results. The role combines strategic project leadership, external relationship management, and business operations. You will take important 0-to-1 initiatives from early ideas through validation, execution, and measurable traction. You will also help establish the operating rhythms, processes, and partnerships needed to support sustainable growth. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced operator who thrives in ambiguity, moves quickly, and enjoys working across nearly every part of an organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead high-impact 0-to-1 strategic projects that advance long-term organizational goals, including fundraising, growth strategies, new programs, and partnerships.
  • Design and run validation experiments, assess results objectively, and develop recommendations on whether initiatives should be scaled, adapted, or discontinued.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison for high-priority partners, donors, and external stakeholders, clearly communicating organizational goals, priorities, and vision.
  • Evaluate potential partnerships and initiatives, assess their strategic fit and resource requirements, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Lead major growth partnerships from initial discussions through scoping, agreements, and pilot launches.
  • Run the organization’s operating rhythm and ensure important decisions are translated into clear actions, ownership, and outcomes.
  • Support critical organizational functions including HR, legal, finance, hiring processes, and people operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational workflows such as planning, hiring, and cross-functional processes, and implement scalable solutions.
  • Plan and execute organizational retreats, including defining objectives, developing agendas, coordinating logistics, and ensuring effective follow-through.
  • Work closely with leadership and teams across the organization to create clarity, maintain momentum, and resolve high-priority challenges.
  • Represent the organization professionally with senior external stakeholders, partners, funders, and other members of the broader education ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a Chief of Staff, operations, strategy, or comparable role, including experience as a founder or early-stage operator, or experience in consulting, banking, or strategy combined with hands-on operating experience.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a new program, product, partnership, or initiative from 0 to 1.
  • Strong ability to operate in ambiguous environments, turn loosely defined and high-stakes problems into structured plans, and drive initiatives through to measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working closely with executives and representing organizations in high-stakes external settings.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and credibly with executives, partners, funders, and internal teams.
  • Ability to manage a broad range of priorities while maintaining attention to detail, execution quality, and deadlines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish trust across different functions, seniority levels, and external organizations.
  • Sound judgment when managing people, priorities, confidential information, and sensitive situations.
  • Strong ownership mentality, including the ability to identify gaps, take initiative, ask for support when appropriate, and follow through independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, high-growth environment with evolving priorities.
  • Availability to work within a U.S. time zone.
  • Experience with fundraising, development, board relations, or donor relations is a plus.
  • Experience in education, ed-tech, nonprofit, or another mission-driven organization is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Base salary of $179,000–$196,000 USD.
  • Fully remote work within the United States.
  • Flexible working hours, with meetings primarily held during U.S. Pacific Time mornings.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for U.S. employees.
  • Work-from-home stipend.
  • Professional development budget.
  • Semesterly company retreats.
  • Monthly regional meetups.
  • Opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team spanning education, consulting, startups, science, and other backgrounds.
  • Opportunity to contribute directly to initiatives designed to expand access to learning and support students globally.
