PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Sets up and operates variety of brake press machines. Responsible for machine set-up, inputting data to form designed parts, fitting and provide accurate measurements.

· Amada Press Brake with NC9-EX controls

· Amada Press Brake, FAB III-8025 NT with NC PC controls

Job Duties:

  • Operate press break machine.
  • Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches.
  • Use a CNC controller to input information into machine.
  • Adjust ram and back gauge locations per process control instructions and blueprints.
  • Checks height, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges and other precision-measuring instruments.
  • Perform complex programming using all features of the press brake.
  • Work with tight tolerances.
  • Produce parts for assembly operations.
  • Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Program the CNC to produce new parts meeting specifications.
  • Perform spot inspections of parts.
  • Perform all required routine and minor maintenance activities according to procedures.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork.
  • Identify assembly parts.
  • Set up light gauge metal.
  • Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum & regular steel).
  • Check machine for defects and repair if necessary.
  • Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned.
  • Read drawings and blueprints.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience in the industry preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Math Skills: Good math skills will help press brake operators understand complex instructions, how schematics work and make sure items are designed and built correctly.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Press brake operators will need to know why machines are not at peak performance, how to increase output and how to fix errors.
  • Attention to Detail: Press brakes are precision equipment. Being off by millimeters could be a critical error. Keen attention to detail is required.
  • Mechanical and Technical Skills: Machines controlled by computers will need operators who understand CAD/CAM technology.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to walk, bend, reach, and twist frequently throughout the day.

· Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds (or specify your range).

· Ability to lift and position materials overhead or at shoulder level as needed.

· Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, and arms.

· Ability to grip, grasp, and handle small components as part of production tasks.

· Ability to climb stairs or ladders and work at heights as needed.

· Ability to handle vibrating tools or machinery.

· Ability to crouch, kneel, stoop, or work in confined spaces periodically.

· Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, noise, vibration, fumes, and changing weather conditions.

· Ability to maintain alertness and concentration for extended periods while operating machinery.

· Work in an environment with moderate to high noise, moving equipment, and fluctuating temperatures.

· Ability to see, hear, and speak effectively to communicate and respond to equipment alerts and alarms. Visually inspect parts and equipment and respond to safety alarms or signals.

· Must be able to comfortably perform physical tasks associated with the role, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
