Possibility of a Remote Position after three months
Position Purpose:
To maintain accurate, organized, and standardized product category and product master data within the company's ERP system. The Product Category Coordinator supports product setup, category management, costing accuracy, reporting, purchasing, sales, and operational efficiency by ensuring product information is properly classified, maintained, and governed across the organization.
Goals of Position:
- Maintain accurate, organized, and standardized product category, costing, and product master data within the ERP system.
- Support purchasing, sales, inventory management, reporting, and operational efficiency through reliable product information and data governance.
- Improve data quality and consistency by reducing duplicate, miscellaneous, and incorrectly categorized product records while promoting standardized product setup processes.
Responsibilities:
- Create, maintain, and organize vendor and sales product categories while ensuring accurate category assignments throughout the ERP system.
- Maintain product master data, including descriptions, units of measure, vendor information, pricing, costing, and related product attributes.
- Ensure accurate product costing by maintaining vendor, standard, and replacement costs and resolving costing discrepancies.
- Convert temporary, miscellaneous, duplicate, outdated, or uncategorized products into approved category structures and maintain data consistency.
- Collaborate with sales, purchasing, operations, and vendors to verify product information and support data accuracy across departments.
- Document product setup standards, category guidelines, and costing procedures while supporting ERP data governance and process improvement initiatives.
- Identify and resolve product data issues that may impact quoting, purchasing, inventory management, reporting, profitability analysis, or operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Major Challenges:
- Maintaining accuracy across large volumes of product data and category assignments
- Balancing data maintenance priorities while supporting multiple departments
- Identifying and correcting inconsistencies in legacy product records
- Ensuring product costing remains accurate and current
- Standardizing product information from multiple vendors and sources
- Preventing downstream issues affecting quoting, purchasing, inventory, reporting, and profitability analysis
- Supporting ERP data integrity while maintaining operational efficiency
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with ERP systems, spreadsheets, product databases, and costing information
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and verify information before making changes
- Ability to follow established processes, maintain accurate records, and exercise sound judgment
- Experience in distribution, purchasing, inventory management, inside sales support, customer service, product data management, or ERP administration preferred
- Knowledge of industrial rubber products, including hose, gaskets, belting, sheet rubber, fittings, or related industrial products is a plus but not required
Education and Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Information Systems, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of experience in product data management, ERP administration, inventory control, purchasing, inside sales support, customer service, distribution, or related fields preferred
- Experience working with ERP systems and product master data strongly preferred
- Experience with product costing and pricing information preferred
- Industrial distribution experience strongly preferred
- ERP system training or related business software certifications are a plus – Truelinx or Tribute specifically
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Frequently required to review, enter, and analyze data
- Occasional lifting of office materials and files up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English with employees, vendors, and customers
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based environment
- Frequent use of computers, ERP systems, and business software applications
- Moderate interaction with sales, purchasing, operations, and vendor personnel
- Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
