Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Director Operations to join our
team and lead our transportation dispatch operations. In this key leadership position,
you will oversee the daily coordination and scheduling of transportation services;
manage the dispatch and lot staff to ensure exceptional service delivery.
What You'll Do
Lead and develop a team of dispatchers (i.e fleet management) to achieve
operational excellence in support of APAS Government Clients.
Supervise the Dispatch Managers, Fleet, Drivers and Transportation Assistants
(TA’s) staff to ensure on-time delivery of students and optimization of assigned
routes.
Serve as the Government Single Point of Contact for the CFSA and OSSE
Contracts.
Maintain and Driver and Transportation Assistant Employee Roster by contract to
ensure continuity
Maintain a Daily Call Out and Do Not Show List for Drivers and TA’s
Monitor real-time vehicle locations and make quick decisions to address traffic or
weather issues
Review and approve Dispatch Managers comprehensive dispatch logs and
transportation records
Liaison with HR to ensure team follow Contractual as well as DOT regulations
and safety standards
Track and improve key performance metrics including on-time performance
Collaborate with HR and Operations Team on staffing, training, and performance
management
Troubleshoot and resolve service disruptions promptly and efficiently
Participate in recruiting and training of new transportation staff
Qualifications
High school diploma required, Associate's or bachelor’s degree in business,
Logistics, or related field preferred
3+ years of experience in transportation dispatch or logistics
Proven supervisory experience managing dispatch teams
Proficiency with routing software, GPS systems, and dispatch communication
tools
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
requirements
Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and dispatch management systems
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with occasional field presence as needed
May require flexible scheduling including early mornings, evenings, or weekends
during peak periods
