Job Description
Position Summary
The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading banquet events from setup through breakdown, ensuring exceptional guest service and seamless event execution. This role supervises banquet staff, coordinates with culinary and catering teams, and serves as the primary on-site leader during assigned functions. The Banquet Captain ensures all events are executed according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), hotel standards, and guest expectations.
Responsibilities
• Oversee banquet events, ensuring successful setup, service, and breakdown.
• Review BEOs and communicate event details and expectations to banquet staff.
• Supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and housepersons during assigned events.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and assign staff responsibilities.
• Ensure banquet rooms and event spaces are set according to client specifications and hotel standards.
• Coordinate with Culinary, Catering, and Operations teams to ensure smooth event execution.
• Serve as the primary contact for event hosts and promptly address guest requests or concerns.
• Monitor service quality and maintain Sheraton brand standards.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service policies.
• Assist with training and mentoring banquet team members.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of banquet, restaurant, or hospitality experience; hotel banquet experience preferred.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong guest service, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
