Position Summary
The Senior Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and security of all infrastructure at New River Electrical. This role serves as a key technical leader within a lean IT team, ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of systems supporting New River Electrical employees. They will be the point person to action requests escalated by the Help Desk. The Sr. Infrastructure Administrator provides services for a variety of systems inclusive of, but not limited to, Active Directory, file and print, endpoint security/management, backup/recovery, and business applications. This position works with the IT team to implement corporate infrastructure and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
In addition to operational responsibilities, this role partners with IT leadership to design and implement infrastructure solutions, drive modernization efforts, and recommend improvements to systems, processes, and security posture. The position requires a proactive approach to system reliability, capacity planning, automation, and continuous improvement across the environment.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform support, maintenance and administration for Windows Client/Server environments
- Work within Active Directory to manage user access and ensure proper application of group policy objects
- Monitor server infrastructure and execute defined actions to prevent or minimize outages/downtime
- Work with security vendor to ensure all tickets are addressed in a timely manner
- Work with vendors to support and maintain various infrastructure appliances and web hosted solutions
- Provide configuration, maintenance and support for company VoIP solution
- Acts as first point of contact for server-related questions posed by end users and other service provider teams
- Action requests and escalate to appropriate service provider(s) if resolution exceeds authority or capabilities
- Deploy and maintain application deployment packages for end user computers and company mobile devices
- Remove retired systems from the environment and safely dispose of the equipment (ensure data destruction)
- Train users on proper system use, with various levels of expertise in attendance
- Create and maintain documentation with up-to-date changes to current systems
- Mentor Help Desk staff on recurring escalated issues

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience on enterprise IT support teams
- 7 plus years of administration in infrastructure environments
- Strong experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management (on-prem and/or Entra ID)
- Hands-on experience managing Windows Server environments, including patching, performance, and lifecycle management
- Experience with virtualization platforms including VMware, vSphere, ESXi, and VNXe
- Experience with endpoint management platforms and endpoint security tools
- Experience with backup, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity practices
- Demonstrated experience supporting and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues in a production environment
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security principles, including access control, system hardening, and vulnerability remediation
- Experience with automation and scripting (Powershell, IaC – Terraform)
- Experience supporting remote field personnel
- Experience researching technical issues and finding best fit resolutions
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers and all levels of management.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.
- Comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to be detail oriented.
- Must be willing to travel to remote sites
- Experience with large field-based organizations such as utilities or logistics firms leveraging mobile workforce technologies and enterprise systems is highly desired.
