Course description: Social and philosophical theories of gender. Feminist theories of discrimination. Structures of gender-based domination and their implications in conflict situations. Ethnic and religious factors in gender-based conflicts. Remedial measures and social movements.
Required experience and qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or equivalent training in the field or a related discipline.
- Expertise in gender issues in conflict settings, feminist theories, gender inequalities in Canada and elsewhere, reparative measures and institutional responses to gender-based violence and issues of domination at both national and global levels, with a particular focus on the role of multilateral organizations in shaping local policies and practices, etc.
- Passive proficiency in the second official language.
- Sensitivity to multiple differences (including abilities, genders, and cultures) and to students' concerns
- Proficiency with both in-person and online learning tools.
