Job Description

Principal Product Manager

Active Intelligence is already live—autonomous agents serving 180,000+ businesses, with real traction and a roadmap that gets more ambitious with every release. As our next Principal Product Manager - AI Context & Reasoning, you won't just be managing feature backlogs—you'll be at the forefront of our autonomous marketing vision, accelerating the foundational layer that makes all of it smarter. This is a principal-level IC role focused on two highly connected, deeply leveraged problem spaces: the context intelligence layer that gives Active Intelligence its depth, and the deep reasoning agent that turns that depth into marketing insight no other platform can deliver.

Working alongside our Head of Applied AI, Head of Active Intelligence Engineering, and a core team of product leaders, you will architect the critical loops where deeper context produces more powerful reasoning. We ship fast, iterate in days not quarters, and expect product managers to own outcomes end-to-end—from prototype to production to in-market adoption. This isn't about having scope handed to you; it's about defining the future of AI product craft and seeing your contributions directly shape our company's trajectory.

On a typical day, you might:
  • Build and mature the Context Layer by defining the structured intelligence architecture that gives Active Intelligence a deep understanding of each customer's goals, brand, and audience behavior.
  • Architect the Deep Reasoning Agent using frontier model capabilities (extended thinking, multi-step research) to deliver deep analytical insights that make static reporting obsolete.
  • Connect the product flywheel to ensure a continuous loop where richer context drives more powerful reasoning, fueling deeper user engagement.
  • Design robust evaluation frameworks, golden sets, and quality rubrics to rigorously grade agent outputs and establish the bar for true "marketing-grade intelligence".
  • Operate as a technically credible builder, prototyping directly with frontier models and testing prompt architectures as a peer to our applied AI and ML engineers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across data/ML teams, the agent platform, and the broader product organization to move people and align goals without relying on positional authority.
  • Drive continuous improvement in model behavior and data structures, balancing technical elegance with ultimate customer value.
The ideal candidate will bring:
  • Significant product management experience with a track record of building and scaling AI/ML-powered products in production, moving far beyond mere proofs of concept.
  • Direct production experience with frontier AI models and agentic architectures, knowing firsthand what fails in production versus what works in a demo.
  • A proven technical foundation in shaping data platforms, context systems, or structured intelligence layers, with the ability to engage deeply on system architecture and data models.
  • An eval-driven quality mindset, having successfully designed evaluation frameworks and feedback loops that separate "demo-ware" from highly reliable production intelligence.
  • First-principles thinking and a history of defining new product categories in highly ambiguous domains where no playbook exists.
  • An ownership mentality driven by founder-level autonomy—someone who builds prototypes, identifies gaps, and ships end-to-end solutions without waiting for permission.
  • Prior experience in Marketing Technology (MarTech) or customer engagement platforms, bringing deeply formed opinions about what marketers actually need.
