This leadership role oversees a high-performing collections team responsible for managing delinquent accounts while balancing strong risk management with a member-first approach. The position plays a key role in reducing delinquency rates, improving recovery outcomes, and ensuring regulatory compliance across collections operations. It requires a hands-on leader capable of guiding daily operations, coaching team members, and serving as an escalation point for complex financial situations. The role also involves close collaboration with lending, risk, and member services teams to support financial wellness and operational efficiency. Strong analytical capability is essential to monitor performance, identify trends, and implement process improvements. This is a remote position within a fast-paced, performance-driven environment focused on both results and service quality.
- Oversee daily collections operations, ensuring timely management of delinquent accounts including loans and lines of credit
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of collections professionals through performance management, training, and regular feedback
- Establish and enforce collections policies, procedures, and performance standards to meet organizational and regulatory goals
- Act as the escalation point for complex member cases, negotiating repayment solutions aligned with policy and member needs
- Monitor compliance with applicable regulations including FDCPA, CFPB guidelines, and other federal and state requirements
- Analyze collection data, performance metrics, and portfolio trends to identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Prepare and deliver operational reports, scorecards, and performance updates to leadership
- Collaborate with internal departments such as lending, risk, and member services to enhance processes and reduce delinquency
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required
- 5+ years of experience in collections, credit, or financial services operations
- 3+ years of leadership or people management experience
- Strong knowledge of collections regulations including FDCPA, CFPB requirements, bankruptcy, repossession, and related laws
- Proven ability to manage sensitive customer situations with professionalism and sound judgment
- Strong analytical skills with experience in reporting, performance tracking, and data-driven decision-making
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, remote, and goal-oriented environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
