Job Description
Sub Assembly Technician
Job Summary:
The Sub-Assembly Technician is responsible for building, preparing, and verifying machine sub-assemblies to support efficient main assembly operations. This role ensures components are built correctly, on time, and aligned with JMC’s Full Kit philosophy—delivering ready-to-install assemblies that reduce rework and keep machines moving.

Key Responsibilities:
Sub-Assembly Build & Preparation:
• Build mechanical sub-assemblies according to prints, BOMs, and work instructions
• Ensure assemblies are complete, accurate, and ready for integration into main machine builds
• Perform layout, drilling, tapping, fastening, and basic fabrication work
• Pre-fit and align components to ensure proper function before release
Quality & Verification:
• Inspect parts and assemblies for accuracy, fit, and finish
• Verify correct revisions of prints and components are being used
• Identify and report defects, missing parts, or discrepancies early
• Support pre-QC checks before assemblies are released to production
Kitting & Material Coordination:
• Work with stockroom and supply chain to ensure parts are available (Full Kit readiness)
• Stage and organize sub-assemblies for easy access by assembly teams
• Communicate shortages or risks that could impact build schedules
Production Support:
• Assist main assembly teams with install or troubleshooting when needed
• Support continuous flow of work by prioritizing critical sub-assemblies
• Maintain clean, organized work areas to support efficiency and safety
Documentation & Tracking:
• Clock time accurately in ERP (Visual) under proper resource codes (e.g., 0272 Sub-Assembly)
• Track progress and communicate status updates to leads/managers
• Participate in daily production updates or Gemba discussions

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 1–3+ years of mechanical assembly or manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and BOMs
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic machining processes
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Standing, bending, and working in a manufacturing environment
