We think it’s some of the most exciting stuff happening in infrastructure today.

The Way We Do Things: We believe that a team of people who are humble, hungry and smart will deliver superior performance over the sum total of talented individuals; therefore, we are committed to achieving our mission through teamwork while honoring our core values.

About the Technical Representative I (Heavy Equip Mech) Role:

Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on keeping heavy equipment running at peak performance? We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Technical Representative I / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to become a key player on our Customer Support Team.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for maintaining and repairing Bergkamp’s industry-leading Pavement Preservation Equipment. Your work will directly impact our customers by ensuring their machines operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

You’ll collaborate with a team of experienced mechanics to diagnose issues, develop smart repair strategies, and deliver top-notch service—both in our shop and occasionally on-site with customers. If you enjoy variety in your work, solving mechanical challenges, and making a real difference for equipment operators in the field, this is the role for you.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a technical environment and enjoys solving problems. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent as a foundation for your technical skills.
  • 3–5 years of experience in automotive mechanics, welding, electrical work, or a related field.
  • Confidence using mechanic tools (both electric and pneumatic) and operating a forklift.
  • The ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Strong technical writing skills to document work clearly and accurately.
  • A natural problem-solver who can think critically and adapt to new challenges.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally, including some weekends (up to 25% of the time).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with customers, coworkers, and leadership.
  • A customer-first mindset, with professionalism and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships.
  • Solid math skills, including working with fractions, decimals, percentages, and basic calculations.
  • The ability to follow instructions in various formats—written, spoken, or diagrammed—and apply common sense to get the job done.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to doing things right the first time.
  • Comfort using computers and software, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems, to manage service orders, RMAs, and transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and repairing pavement preservation equipment in both shop and field settings and providing remote support when needed.
  • Training customers and team members on equipment operation, maintenance, and repair—both during start-ups and ongoing support.
  • Leading equipment start-ups and delivering hands-on training to crews and fleet service teams.
  • Collaborating with engineering and product teams by sharing field insights to improve equipment design and performance.
  • Supporting the sales team by answering technical questions and helping customers understand equipment capabilities.
  • Conducting final inspections of equipment before it leaves production to ensure quality and readiness.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Staying current with industry knowledge through training, publications, and professional development.
  • Contributing to a strong team culture by actively participating in meetings and sharing ideas.

Skills:

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will use your knowledge of heavy equipment, mechanical and hydraulic systems to diagnose and repair a variety of issues for customers’ Bergkamp pavement preservation equipment. You will use your knowledge of Bergkamp manufactured equipment to train customers in the proper use and maintenance of their equipment to ensure that our customers’ equipment is operating safely and efficiently providing them with the best opportunity to be productive with Bergkamp equipment.
