Somerville YMCA is seeking Teachers in our NEW Universal Preschool classrooms to execute a structured, engaging, and positive school day curriculum. Applicants should share in our commitment to nurture and support our children, promote youth development, and foster a sense of social responsibility.
RequirementsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Teacher reports to the Director and is responsible for daily classroom routines and a curriculum that prepares students to rise into Kindergarten. Elementary school readiness is our goal for each child in this program and the Teacher will ensure that necessary skills are taught and learned.
HOURS:
Hours are from 8:15am - 2:15pm with a 30 minute Lunch Break and a 30 minute Prep Time Daily.

Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Bachelor's Degree in Education, or a combination of formal education.
- NJDOE Teaching Certificate Required
- Relevant child care experience ideally with infants, toddlers, or pre-school aged children.
- Positive and clear communication skills specifically in speaking with parents.
- Classroom management skills are needed. Must have the ability to plan and implement curriculum and manage the flow of the day.
- Must be independent and self sustaining. This classroom is yours to run as you see fit.
