Job Description
Summary of Position:
This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and using equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portions of the human body on digital x-ray machine and DEXA machine. Additional responsibilities include duties associated with a Medical Assistant – X-Ray, including but not limited to, preparing patients for the X-Ray department.
Responsibilities as Radiologic Technologist include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
· Make sure all equipment is turned on and is in working order.
· Ensure tables are wiped with sanitizer wipes, floors are free of dust, X-ray detector is wiped and tether tangle free, and gowns are fully stocked in X-ray and DEXA room
· Check appointments
· Ensure all patients have a DEXA order before the tech can perform DEXA
· Verify that it has been at least 2 years since last DEXA
· Ensure patient has filled out a one-page questionnaire
· Obtain height and weight
· After the bone density test, move patient to tracker for reception if patient has additional appointments
· Check the X-ray orders in the chart. Ensure that the order placed is a new order and not one that’s already been done.
· Ensure patients are not wearing clothing with certain dyes, metal or decorative stones, jewelry, piercings, and accessories that may interfere with a clear image.
· Determine the best way to assist patients with mobility impairments
· Fax X-rays at noon and at the end of the day.
· Send X-rays
· Receive reports and ensure they match the order.
· Index
· Attach reports to the correct charts.
· Shutting down and clean the machines at end of day and send the X-ray log to AAI
· Ensure all safety protocols are followed
· Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration. NYS licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required or within 90 days of hire.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Also, to perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of digital x-ray machine. Certification in DEXA and ultrasound is a plus.
