Now we’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Deli Manager to lead our Deli department at our Rosedale location. If you’re passionate about great food, exceptional service, developing strong teams, and running a department that customers love to shop, this role is for you.
What you’ll do• Lead, coach, train, and support the Deli team while creating a positive and accountable work environment
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Deli department, ensuring exceptional standards for service, quality, cleanliness, and presentation
• Deliver warm, knowledgeable customer service and ensure the team consistently provides an exceptional customer experience
• Manage product ordering, inventory levels, receiving, rotation, and availability
• Monitor product freshness, quality, waste, shrink, and department profitability
• Create and manage employee schedules in line with business needs and labour targets
• Maintain attractive, well-stocked displays and execute merchandising standards throughout the department
• Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, dating, sanitation, and food-safety procedures are consistently followed
• Train employees on products, equipment, department procedures, food safety, and customer-service expectations
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and ongoing development of Deli team members
• Monitor department performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity, labour, waste, and the customer experience
• Partner with Store Management and other department leaders to support overall store operations and business priorities
• Lead by example and jump in alongside the team when needed — especially during busy periods
• Previous experience in deli, specialty grocery, fresh foods, prepared foods, or a similar retail food environment
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or department management experience
• Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate a team
• A genuine passion for food and providing exceptional customer service
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, product rotation, and freshness standards
• Experience with ordering, inventory management, waste control, merchandising, and labour management
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable making decisions and solving problems in a fast-paced retail environment
• Reliable and accountable with flexible availability, including evenings and weekends
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
