Job Title: Manager, Consumer Loan Underwriting and DMV
Overview:
The Manager, Consumer Loan Underwriting and DMV is primarily responsible for providing leadership, day-to-day support and guidance to the Underwriting and DMV team, and oversees team compliance to goals, objectives and standards of the organization.
What You Will Do:
This position is responsible for the effective management of credit risk, dealer and branch relationships, third-party originators, direct and indirect loan workflows, lien perfection of collateralized loans, policies and procedures, and training and development.
- Responsible for maintaining loan profitability by reviewing and analyzing performing and non-performing loans, recommending underwriting parameters changes to manual and automated system approvals, and implementing manual and systematic efficiencies.
- Monitors assigned team performance to goals and delivers performance reviews, coaching and development, and regular updates to management.
- Implements internal audit procedures to monitor the quality and accuracy of underwritten loans to Vice President of Consumer Lending and/or higher lending authority.
- Assists with department budget, vendor management, creation and implementation of service level agreements (SLAs), and net promoter scores (NPS). Identifies and creates management reports for applicable committees.
- Attends and presents at applicable meeting(s) and committee(s) to provide updates on department performance, goals, and projects.
- Ensures that all regulatory and compliance requirements are adhered to consistent Credit Union policy.
- Assumes responsibility for timely review of all DMV transactions. Manages and implements review of DMV reports to ensure compliance with department procedures and policies, occurring timely with proper follow-through. Develops and maintains DMV forms, checklists, training and guides for each applicable state, establishing DMV guidelines for team members.
- Responsible for management of DMV paperwork on consumer loans with collateral, ensuring perfection of title on new loans, release of title on paid off loans, and the servicing of requested changes on existing loans. Ensures proper submission of DMV files to secure collateral and takes necessary steps .to reduce member penalties and fees as well as assist members with title and registration related escalations. Serves as an authority on vehicle tax and registration rules by geography, keeping abreast of changes as they are announced and communicating them to the team in a timely manner. Maintains current knowledge of DMV rules and regulations for nationwide lending
- Assumes responsibility for adequate and timely underwriting of all consumer products including unsecured, secured, auto loans, credit cards and other related products and services.
- Monitors and analyzes economic conditions affecting loan portfolio performance to recommend and implement strategic shifts.
- Responsible for team member development in risk mitigation and critical thinking, to ensure timely and logical decisions.
- Works closely with Systems to ensure proper controls via decision manager and auto decisions.
- Maintains a satisfactory or better audit review.
- Maintains working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to member services and financial services area to include (but not limited to): BSA reporting requirements, OFAC, USA Patriot ACT, Red Flags, Regulation CC, Regulation D, Regulation E, Truth in Savings, Truth in Lending, Privacy, etc.
- Attends seminars and professional conferences as necessary. Stays informed of trends and changes in the Consumer Lending field.
- Maintains a good working relationship with branches, dealerships, third party vendors, and other departments within the Credit Union. Works directly with the Department Managers to ensure efficiency and consistency across all consumer-lending areas.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Premier America staff and management.
- Find creative solutions to department problems and challenges through suggested process and policy enhancements.
- Ensures timely resolution of escalated branch or member issues and complaints.
- Responsible for ensuring team members maintain regular contact with branches, brokers, dealerships and third-party vendors.
What We Are Looking For:
• A minimum of three (3) years of similar or related experience.
• Knowledge of Consumer Loan underwriting, regulations and Credit Union operations, practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of Consumer Loan Origination system (Lending 360) and Core System (Symitar).
• Ability to use a personal computer and related software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
• Excellent supervisory and training abilities.
• Strong people management skills including providing feedback, performance management, and development of direct reports.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to maintain an effective and efficient workflow
Pay Grade Info:
The base pay range for this position is: $100k - $120k annually
